1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Memories, a blast from the past
« on: October 01, 2021, 05:36:15 PM »
About twice a year my relatives get together to talk and generally catch up. We joke that we only now meet at funerals so this is much better and we can say what we want to the person without them being dead. My only surviving Aunt is approaching 90 and the youngest person is almost 66 so its a "hope this is not the last one" kind of lunch. My aunt and a cousin bought some pictures and there is one from June 25th 1978 and in the background is my Shelby. I had borrowed my friends 1932 Ford 5 Window coupe to drive at the wedding and he had borrowed my Shelby for his wedding. in the background of this picture in my car sitting in the driveway. It looks like it had just been pulled out of the garage but in the 40+ years we lived in the house we never once had a car in the garage as it was always filled with junk and stuff.
Nice to see pictures of the car from back in the day even if a bad photo. I'm pretty sure it had about 120,000 miles on it at that time, as it got about another 100,000 before being taken off the road about 1988. bought back lots of memories

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Tires back in the 60’s
« on: August 14, 2021, 05:15:16 PM »
I think everyone can agree that the original Goodyear Blue Streaks didn’t last very long, I’ve heard they were all pretty much worn out by about 6,000 miles . I was talking a week or so to the guy I bought my Herz car from in 1971, he said when he got it the car had just over 6,000 miles and had Goodyear Red Line Tires on it. The spare was a D70-14 Goodyear Red Line and stayed in the car until 2012 when I changed it to a BF Goodrich T/A radial. I saw a picture of a 6S565 at Speedway Motors with Red Line tire on it. We’re these the “recommended” replacement tires or was it just a fluke that two cars had them back in the day?
Any of the experts out that can add to this would be appreciated
Thanks

Was invited to show my car at the Philadelphia Concurs de' Elegance, was parked real close to the Daytona Coupe. Was honored to be near a bunch of really historic cars and classics, plus it was for a great cause "Cool Cars for Kids"

SAAC-46 / Be part of the best part of a SAAC convention
« on: July 12, 2021, 12:34:18 PM »
Want to be part of the best thing at a SAAC convention?
Then volunteer to help, that help with registration, t shirt sales, car show registration, vote counting, any part of it will allow you a behind the scenes look, help make the convention better, and the best part is you get to see everyone
I suggest you offer your time to help out at least one or more shift
Do it, you’ll never regret it

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Getting shined up for shows
« on: July 10, 2021, 04:53:41 PM »
Taking the car to some AACA shows and other ones where it needs to be more “original” rather than “driver”
So I put on the restored Magnum 500’s with reproduction Goodyear Blue Streaks.
Won’t be driven any distance, but it will be as close to original as I can make it
First time on the original wheels since the late 80’s (thanks to Shelby Parts and Restoration) and first time on Blue Streaks since it probably left Shelby American in 1966
Just have some more cleaning to do

Has anyone had any dealings with this company, I ordered something almost a month ago and they haven't answered any e-mails and i was only able to get them on the phone once with a promise of shipping information "Soon"
Two e-mails this week have gone unanswered and now the phone number says "the call cannot be completed at this time" Did they go out of business? Can anyone in the area of this business go by and pick up the part I ordered and send it to me  and I'll pay you for your time and shipping or is this one of those "life lessons learned" and I'll have to write this one off
Order Number is R149194319 MICO master cylinder bracket
Thanks
Steve McDonald

Does anyone have a source and pictures of the correct gasket and or spacer that goes on a 1966 car with the autolite carb.   It seems like every gasket set up I try eventually has a vacuum leak under the carb
This would be the gasket between the carb and the intake
Thanks

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / buying a GT350H in the late 70's
« on: June 03, 2021, 06:58:18 PM »
I had purchased car 1431 in 1971 and in 1978 had a chance to purchase another GT350H, this one was 1855. found some of the paperwork from the purchase.
It took two years to pay it off at 23 payments of $99.11. My oh my, times have changed
We sold it for $5,000 to buy our first house, should have kept it.
