So did they erase all of their bids down to yours and another who wasn't the part of the 3?

I understand your inquiry, and while such a scenario might have been nice(er), I took the follow up dialogue as: "I'll accept what you offered, if that agrees with you"; which I felt was quite a reasonable offer (note that I have been accused of squeaking while I'm walking before  ::) ) and anything less even I would have felt badly of.   :)

If I may add to the experiences associated with B.A.T.:

Two years ago, I was a bidder on a ...............Corvette  :o,  yeah I know, absolute blasphemy, but anyway, like most things there the price went beyond what I thought was acceptable, so I bowed out in the bidding process and the car "sold" to another.  But then shortly thereafter I received an email from B.A.T. stating that the seller would accept the bid I had made; the curious thought was that I was actually third in line based on the bids; I guess he lost both of the other higher bidders (?) and was working his way down the list?   :-\

P.S. Oh yeah, I did buy the car.   8)

I'm not at odds with the theory that some of this damage to the subframes of cars could have been inflicted during the rail transport operations.  But I can assure you, that such definitely takes place, with all to great of frequency, this by the tow & wrecker transport services; this often with the utilization of the ever so popularly "T-Hooks"  trough the subframes often at the rear and then utilizing the winch at the front pulling hard enough to compress the suspension, but unfortunately at the wrong angle being applied in the too great of tension being required for the desired effect.    ;)

     Example:

I have come to realize that one must all too often participate in the process of any sort of transport operation, otherwise your shyte will get f@#k-up!   :o

If I am not mistaken, you can just leave the sleeves off and use 28 spline axle seals instead.

Yep, just use greater care in slipping the axle spline through the seal so as not to damage them.

The answer always seemed obvious to me. 4 forward speeds isn't enough.

And that's why decades later I utilized 5-speeds in my race car.   ;)

Yes, an impressive performance; particularly at a track like Bradenton considering the overall length (I've raced there, but of course a much slower vehicle  ::)), and the fact that the drivers will be considering this in as exactly how hard they're going to push the performance envelope; particularly at a 'no points' simply show event.

I've also known a couple of track owner/operators over the years, and made privy to the on goings deemed necessary to promote such events; and with that knowledge, and not intending to intentionally take away from these performance successes, all I can say is....................maybe.   :-\

This endeavor of creating a wide-ratio big-block application Top-Loader isn't really new; we had this conversion in the ol' '70 Shelby back in the '70's (w/ 4.56's or 4.88's (depending on the tire) out back); the gear conversion was different as executed, at that time by Liberty Transmissions, but the result is the same.   :)

The hoop will allow flex where the straight bar will not . That hoop all but negates the purpose at that point . By negating the stiffness purpose with the hoop it becomes more cosmetic at that point. As cosmetic things go under the hood it looks embarrassing and silly to me .

     +1   ;)

OK, I will hunt for them.

      Thank you.

Unfortunately, do to the years of exposure my edition looks similar to the one above (not to mention it seems the green (nor red) ink utilized wasn't very U.V. tolerant  :() , and it would be nice to have something better if only for remembrance (perhaps for framing  ::)) sake.

Some where in my stash of Shelby stuff, and it's a lot, I have about 5 of those Dust Jackets that are NOS.

If you happen to ever find them, and perhaps wish to sell one, I'd like to get one.    ;D

Well, the ol' '70 Shelby's moment of fame in SAAC, being on the cover jacket!  8)

Wait..............is that a non original O.E.M., as it left the factory hood scoop (like these didn't have enough scoops & vents to start with! ::))?  And man, those rear tires sure do hang outside of those fender wells a bunch!  :o

Well, I guess we would of course probably have to acknowledge the value of having the P51 in the back-drop!  ::)

The Lounge / Re: Your tires are too sticky

I find it amazing that these groups, the power-hungry, along with the tree huggers, haven't been after the tire industry more aggressively to date, as the EPA has outlined that it is the tire that is the greatest producer of solid particulate invasion into the environment off the automobile; and I should think that that "official" statement would have painted an awfully large target on this industry.   :-\

But then maybe, it has begun!   ::)

I went to one of the meetings and all I said was, "It's an Industrial Area, what did you THINK was going to be built there?"  Those people did not like THAT.

But the obvious and logical deduction is not always in the majority, and this is an example of why the "Founding Fathers" of the Country created it in the form of a "Republic" where we are supposed to have a "representative" type of governing, this meaning that in reality, not everybody's vote (often even just dumb-ass opinion  ::)) is to be heard, only that of the chosen, supposedly more intelligent voices; this rather than the "mob-rule" of the idealized true "Democracy", which has never succeeded in history!   :o

       O.K., no more politics!   ::)

But, the whining "residents", though they moved into the area probably well aware (and if not, should we be interested in anything they say?) of the presents of the existing (that is: it was there before they were!) track will account for a number of votes at election time!   ::)

Not sure exactly what that induction system is mounted on the engine; I don't believe it's a Weber setup, but more likely a Hilborn or Tecalemit Jackson fuel injection; did Shelby Catalogs ever make mechanical fuel injection induction systems available mail order?    ???

It also appears, as best as I can make out, to have a Scintilla/Vertex/Ronco magneto distributor, I think maybe those 'were' listed in the catalogs?    :-\
