I've used The Tach Man in the past for a couple different gauges.

Wayne,

Correction, CSX2079 not 2179. I was thinking of your car while I was typing. Sorry, my error. I didn't catch Terry K (6s2055) either, so I sent him a PM.

Cheers,

Terry, I sent you a PM. Earl

Wayne,

Jay Cushman aka "papajoe5557" Is currently running an eBay auction #114184170125 For a set of Cobra front Koni's. Very reasonable at $399.99 for the pair. I checked them against the original ones we have in CSX2179 (see pics) they look the same. Is CSX2177 a rack and pinion or worm and sector car? Not that it makes a difference. I can look it up but... Jay might have pieces or parts for it.
The pic of the shock you posted does not look like the one in CSX2079, but they are different cars. Check out Jay's eBay auction.

Cheers,

Randy, thanks for the reply. How would I tell if it's been copper plated? Between the lobes? I don't think it's copper plated though. This cam being a Crane Cams piece, would you know if Crane typically copper plated them?
In the short term to get it running, I have a number of Accel 37000 or 39000 series Tach Drive distributors In several flavors i.e. points, Petronix and BEI (these are with the interchangeable trigger unit upper halves) One base with a cast gear and the other one with a bronze gear, but I don't like the way it looks installed, it sticks up pretty tall.
Wouldn't the distributor shaft for the 5.0 HO gear as well as the aftermarket gear need to be re-drilled/and pinned?
I'll experiment with the Accel distributor first. I'll let you know.
Thanks,
Earl

Okay fellas,
Here's my plan for the upcoming winter project. I'm re-doing (or at least attempting to) doing this engine I built 2 1/2 years ago. This 326 stroker Boss block, Webered motor.
The current cam that's in it is a solid lifter flat tappet (0.517 IN, 0.536 EX @valves and 239 IN, 249 EX duration @ .050" and 112 lobe separation. Replacing it with Crane Cams " COMPUCAM HI-ROLLER" series 0.534 IN 0.534 EX @valves and 234 IN, 244 EX duration @.050" and again 112 degrees lobe separation.
It's just a bit more, not too radically different, profile wise but yet streetable So I'm told. It's a solid roller billet cam.
So...to retain the "look" I'm after with the stock HiPo distributor. I need a bronze gear change.
Question is who has one or makes one for this application? This is probably a "Randy gt350hr" question, but I thought to post it.
Thanks,
~Earl J

Thanks for doing that! You have clearance for days, wow.
The Hookers have 1 5/8" primaries where the JBA's have 1 3/4".
This is what I hate about the Hookers. They hang so low (see pic). Compare that to the pic above...
Thanks again for doing that.

That would be great. No rush, at your leisure.
I think you're right about Randy running these. If he sees this post he might chime in.
For comparison I'll post a side pic of how low Hooker Super Comps hang after my morning errands.
The heads on my car are Louie Unser ported HiPo heads according to Randy, based on the head porters stamps. According to Randy, Louie Unser did port work for SAI in later years, I'm guessing for some of the Group I/II sedans in addition to Valley Head Service, Mondello and I forget the other company.

Has anyone bought and installed a set of JBA 6610S into an early 65/66? I'm shopping for headers these days looking to replace a set of "nut dragging (hang too low)" Hooker Super Comps. I don't care for Shelby tri-y's (Too restrictive) but being too cheap for Cobra Auto's custom tri-y'. Doug's tri-y's are ugly to me. So... looking to hear feedback if anyone has gone the JBA route.
Thanks,
~Earl J

On my '68. Not what you asked but they told me they were made to fit, 65 through 70 Mustang small blocks.

I can also tell you that they revised the left side to clear the Pitman arm on #5.

I don't know what the difference is with the "quick steering kit" on an early car.

Randy has already commented that even the original tri-y's hit there and speculated it was because the original pattern was made on the regular steering idler and Pitman?

Hello Doug,

On occasion you'll post a pic. Could you post a pic of the top of your 6610 JBA's in relation to the shock towers? Both sides. Nothing else.
I found a guy who installed a set of 6610 JBA's on an early 66 (GT350 probably and more than likely a replica/clone) that looks like a T5 and Global West front suspension uppers and lowers. From the photos he's also running a hydraulic clutch.
What interests me is how tucked up the primaries and collectors are. (Side view pic) As well as a few pics of the steering box area from the bottom.
I have no idea who owns this car, but he took photos that are useful to me.
Can you tell I'm leaning this route but will retain the stock clutch linkage (z-bar etc.) is my intent.

Thanks,
~Earl J

Did anyone say front end alignment yet after the "push"? Or is that a given. Just check'in.

A rear sway bar, properly adjusted, will induce oversteer, a necessary attribute if you want the car to rotate. Lee Mathias installed one on 5S071 and was, at one time, Virginia state autocross champ in his class.

Thank you, Stan.

We had this discussion a lil over two years go. With Z Ray and Shelby Doug. I kept the photos with dated post it notes addressed to the two. Here they are again. (See pics) Mine is a variation from of the Boss302 Suspension Guide with the triple adjustable bar. I have no issues with understeer and my front A Arms are lowered. As you said basically to each his own. It is definitely doable.

Dan,

Great post! Interesting image 9th row down on the right of the 65 GT350 steering wheel, but what caught my eye was the placement of the toggle horn switch. Not the norm for the majority of 65 350's.
