SAAC-49 / Attending My First SAAC Event SAAC-49
April 03, 2024, 05:12:04 PM
G'day to my Shelby American brothers, this will be the first SAAC event, so I can't wait. What can I expect because I'm hoping to see a few 289 & 427 Cobras. It's very rare to see a genuine Cobra here in Australia, as a matter of fact, I've only seen one real Cobra in person & that was CSX2105 before it returned to the USA. I'm hoping to meet people like Rick Kopec, Howard Pardee, Ned Scudder, Jeff Burgy, Greg Kolasa, Jay Talbott, David Mathews, Vince Liska etc, etc. I also hope to network with some gents who might want to sell their SAAC magazines from the 70's & 80's. Anyway, I look forward to meeting some of you, cheers.

(I'm also hoping you Yankee's bring as many GT350's & GT500's as you can to this event, a GT40 wouldn't go astray ;D).

It was a GT350 weekend at the All Ford Day in Sydney on Sunday.

A friend sent photos of a T-Bar shifter with Cobra Logo. However, I'm unable to identify the year of the shifter because the cobra appears to be 68, 69, 70 but the shift base appears to be 64. Could the shifter be out of a Shelby, Mustang or Torino Cobra Jet or other type of Ford? I'd appreciate anyone's input, thank you.

GT40 - Original/Mk V / GT40 Dash Photos - Order of Gauges
November 14, 2022, 02:06:35 PM
I've been able to locate some photos of the GT40 dash from this forum from P/1013 & P/1033 however I can't depict all gauges. Does anyone have any close-up photos of dash gauges & the order in which they are fitted to the dash? Thanks for any help, cheers.

G'day fellas, I understand this question may have been discussed a thousand times but here we go. The cause of the bow in the NACA hoods, is it from poor quality with production, wrong jig, bad fibre glass or pressure from the hood springs pushing forward onto the hood pins causing the hood to bow or is it heat from the engine bay etc etc etc or does all the above apply? I'd like to know & there may not be one answer, your knowledge & information will be appreciated, thank you.

One for the Shelby aficionados, what's the CSX number of the prototype Cobra in the workshop being fitted with a 427? Is it 2196 or 3002? I know its Phil, Ken & Pete in the photo however is it Ted Sutton working on the Cobra? Thanks for any information, cheers.

One for the Shelby guru's. I'd like to know who the driver was in this Cobra, I was told it was Bob Bondurant? If so, what was the year, the race & the CSX number of the Cobra? Was it a Shelby American racing team Cobra or an independent team car & who took the photo? Thanks for any input, cheers.

Were any 1965 or 1966 GT350's raced with individual throttle body weber induction units. If so would anyone have any photos?

I met Warren the owner of 6S844 at Sydney Motorsport Park last weekend, what a Shelby.

Does it get any better than a 1967 Brittany Blue Shelby GT500 with Kelsey-Hayes Magstars  :)

My tach has the chrome cup, did Faria make the chrome cup tachs or black krinkle only or both? I also have the high mounted Cobra so is it correct they were early production? Further to this, there is know date stamping on my tach & three wires from the rear cup. I also note the screw plate on mine mounts to the rear & not to the front like the black krinkle tachs, thanks for any help :).

Concerning the SAAC definition around "Present Condition", is it considered fair to call CSX3232 a "wrecked, parted out & reconstructed" or Destroyed, parted out & reconstructed Cobra? I'm asking the question based on photos & notes from the World Registry of Cobra's website & 4th Edition book & the attached photo.

I would like to start archiving photos of CSX2000 Series Cobras. I'm finding photos on the internet & Facebook but they may not include the CSX numbers. However on Facebook SAAC member & Cobra Registrar Ned Scudder identifies some of these cars which I really appreciate. I no from page 73 from the World Registry of Cobras, 4th edition that CSX2011 was originally a red car then white with red & blue motifs that went racing.
I've been a SAAC member since 2014, I own a 2011 Shelby GT500 but I really have a heart for the CSX2000 & 3000 series Cobras, cheers.
