Wanted to Buy / 65/66 237E5 leaf spring plates
September 05, 2021, 07:08:13 PM
I missed a pair of 65/66 237E5 leaf springs that recently showed up and sold through the forum by two hours 😩. I only need one but would be very happy to buy a pair, even if it's just the lower stamped leaf. Anyone please?
Thanks!

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Trunk liner
July 19, 2021, 09:39:11 AM
What am I missing? I continue to see 65 and 66 style Ford trunk liners being advertised for astronomical prices. All of the units being advertised are service replacement units and beginning to split and crack due to age from being folded up in a box for many many years. I would love to have the original trunk liner for 6S281 in pristine condition but lets be real here, that ship sailed many years ago. I have used Scott Drake units before and they look and fit perfectly. Would a Scott Drake trunk liner result in a deduction in concourse level two? I assume that concourse level one would be the only class that would require a original assembly line unit. Thanks for your thoughts

Does anyone recognize this 65 GT 350?
A good friend of mine was showing me pictures from his youth in Oklahoma and I spotted this picture. The picture is dated July 1965, my friend thought the owners name was Danny Hajek and that the picture was taken in Hennessey Oklahoma. Looks like it may have been sponsored by Turner Ford at the time. It would be fun to discover the history of this car and it's current whereabouts. Any thoughts?

This appears to be real deal hipo block with a stamped number and mains. It would be cool someone could reunite it to their Shelby.

Wanted to Buy / 1965/1966 Ray Brown seat belt help
February 07, 2021, 12:16:53 AM
I recently came across 3/4 of a set of short buckle 65/66 style Ray Brown seatbelts. The original seatbelts for 6S281 I've been missing since at least 1972. I am extremely happy to have found what I have. Does anyone have any of the parts to build a buckle section for one seat belt? I would also appreciate any restoration help or advice applying to these seatbelts. Leather? Rivets? Re-chroming etc.
Thanks for any help or advice.

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Air filter wing nut

Good morning guys, is this a correct style wing nut that would've been on 6S281 originally?
Thanks very much

A good friend of mine just came by and showed me some pictures of a very interesting engine. It apparently has CS006 stamped in multiple locations. It is supposedly built on a 460 dimension engine.
It is very exotic looking as you can see in the pictures, cast for a dry sump application, all aluminum. Apparently the valve covers, fuel rails and a lot of the AN fittings were plated in gold Or copper when he got it. Help
Thanks, Karl

With some downtime I have been looking at and thinking about 6S281. Over the last several years I have managed to accumulate virtually all of the hard to find Shelby/K code items that had gone missing or just rotted over many years. My goal is to restore 281, within reason, to "as new" (as possible) when delivered to Richardson Ford here in Albuquerque Nov 1965. I have become a bit of Realist when it comes to items like double / single crimped brake hoses, I have decided to use Ford service replacement double crimped hoses primarily for safety, just seems like common sense at this point. Plus I can always upgrade down the road if desired. That said, I intend to drive this car sparingly, I have no interest in going to concourse level one condition, I will take a run at concourse level two.
All that being said I would like thoughts and opinions concerning my recently acquired date correct carburetor. Drew at air-fuel-spark sounds like the guy to have mechanically and cosmetically restore these carburetors. My plan was to box this unit up and send it to him but I am now having second thoughts, not because I don't trust him, I just don't want to get this wrong. My question is this, should I restore this carburetor mechanically or go all the way into the external cosmetics, color also? I have seen older pictures Of early Shelby's with carburetors that look exactly like mine does now, please see pictures. I have also seen pictures of nicely restored cars with the brighter and darker colored carbs. What to do? Thanks in advance for your comments and thoughts.

Swap Meet / April 1965 Holley 715
February 17, 2020, 12:37:22 PM
I have a April 1965 3259 Holley 715 that is absolutely complete and original, it does need to be rebuilt/restored. My intent is to use this on 6S281 but I would be willing to do some trading for a July, August, September unit in better or comparable condition. I can live with the April 65 unit on my early 66 but I am also all about helping others in our hobby improve their cars. PM If you have any thoughts on this. I am not interested in selling this unit out right.
Thanks, Karl

Need a little help from the Shelby gurus out there. Is this the correct coil bracket or 6S281? It was built at Ford in October 1965. All the pictures I have studied show the hole ( approx 5/16" ) in the front of the bracket, I'm not sure about the angle on the mounting face that attaches to the right head. Thanks, trying to get all these little details correct. Also, does anyone have an example of the correct bolt used to mount this to the head?
Much appreciated as always, Karl

1966 Shelby GT350/GT350H / Unicorn?
October 01, 2019, 03:04:39 PM
Unicorn?
As many of you know I have been on the hunt for a correct early 1966 intake manifold or 6S281. This is the manifold that has the firing order and the part number on the back of the manifold, it also has the square corner pad near the A on Cobra.  I know they were limited use on early cars, am I chasing unicorn?? Does anyone think anyone has one of these that could be bought?
Thanks, Karl
