Has anyone ever used one of these titling services like Broadway Title or getnewtitle.com? They presumably for a substantial fee get you a title in 6 weeks.

The car I am looking at is a 60s convertible Mustang.

Corey

Corey,

You'll have to jump through lots of legal hoops, with the seller involved. Broadway title and Getnewtitle are not the answer towards legal ownership. If the seller is not willing to go through Harrisburg to get a new title in their name (if it was even in their name, or from PA), then you need to walk away from the car, or risk loosing your money should the car come up as stolen in the past, or part of a legal proceeding in the past (Divorce, bankruptcy, or other loss of real property). At this point, before you do anything else, I'd call your attorney and ask him/her what they think......

Corey,

What state are you buying the car out of? This will make a big difference as to whether you will be able to title it in Maryland.

Bill

The car is in Pennsylvania but I do not know if it is registered in PA or not.  I am going to look at the car on Friday and will learn a whole lot more.

If the car is registered in PA, then it MUST come with a title to legally sell it.
https://www.dmv.pa.gov/VEHICLE-SERVICES/Vehicle-Information/Pages/Selling.aspx

If it is from NJ, Ohio, Maryland, it too must have a title, in NY state, anything earlier than 1973 did not have a title, but a transferable registration card where the seller would sign the back of it in the appropriate spot....It too will have the VIN associated with it.

Otherwise, a VIN search will be required by the PA state police, paperwork filled out (google it), and then the seller can sell you the vehicle in question. I personally do not suggest swapping any funds until a legal ownership of the vehicle can be established.

I live in Maryland and am looking at a car that is sold with no title - sold on bill of sale only.  What will this mean to me as far as registering the car in Maryland?  Can I get a title in Maryland off a bill of sale on a 60 year old car?

Thank you,

Corey

1969-1970 Shelby GT350/500 / Re: cannister bracket

1584, a 3/31/1969 build did not have the bracket for the space saver canister. On the SAACforum 1.0 we have a lengthy discussion and lots of pictures down to bare metal to prove the car never had it installed.

Replicas and Tribute / Re: vehicle value

After all these years, due to age and health reasons, it is now time to sell my beloved AC Cobra (tribute). My problem is in how to determine the value of the car.  In looking on line, I see them ranging from the $30K's to the $100K's + range. And then there is the problem of knowing where to list, or how to sell.  Can anyone provide some insight?

Valuing a cobra replica can be a daunting task, some get appraisals for their insurance companies, then mistakenly believe this is the market value of the same. Some will waive a 10-20 year old market appraisal, believing it is also current value. Neither is the case if over 30 days old, and if the appraiser was actually in tune with the cobra replica market.

With that said, let's start with the very basics, and drill down from there:

Who is the manufacturer of your kit?
Body style?
What front and rear suspension?(IE: Mustang II, late model Mustang, Jag, etc)
What brakes were used (IE: Mustang II, late model Mustang, Jag, Wilwood, etc)?
Gauges and layout (IE: custom or standard)?
What type of rims (IE: bolt on, true knock off, or ???) and tires (age of tires)
Drivetrain, big block, small block, and the details of such?
Which transmission?
When was the car built?
Factory built (ERA, Contemporary, Unique, SPF, Kirkham, etc) or home built?
Options (IE: top, wipers, heater)?
Exterior/interior colors?

Finally:
How is the car titled?

Again, all of the above is potentially just a starting point, there may be additional questions based on your responses to the above. Having been around these cars since the early 80's, and still quite active in the hobby, I'll do my best to guide you along.

Will await your response, and we can go from there.

Just checked 5 of my original pm-300 shelby antennas  and the tube lenghts are 13 3/4''  and the repo was made from an original i sent to joel metro parts back years ago to make since he bought out a huge antenna inventory that made parts for gm mopar and ford and he had lots of parts to assemble factory antennas. The pm-300 was an old pontiac rear mount antenna and i have found them in junk yards back years ago and they have a longer lenght tube than the shelby and thats why the shelby antenna mast dont go down all the way like the old pontiacs did that had longer tubes. I have 1 shortened shelby antenna and u can tell by the end of tube it had been cut off and the crimping isnt the same and i shortened some pontiac antennas years ago to 13 3/4'' like my originals.  If u shorten the tube then the mast sticks up higher out of the car of which is noticeable.  Remember the dealer installed the antennas and being unique to the 69-70 shelbys mounted in rear quarter so depending on  where the the guy cut the hole they could fit differently and some dealers may have shortened them or restoration shops etc over the years. Also the quarter panels are different between fastback and convertibles. So check the tube end cut and crimp to an unmolested shelby antenna and see if its been shortened.

Thanks Ed, makes me feel a bit more comfortable that the antenna in my 70 GT350 convertible is original.

I don't know about expert just that I know more then most it seems as it relates to Shelby and the antenna.  The one you have marked" maybe original" I do not believe was original to a Shelby. It is however I believe a vintage PM300 original for another application. The reason is that it is too long. The ones that are original to a Shelby are typically approximately 13 inch's or slightly shorter from the bottom edge of the PM300 base to the end of the crimp on the tube. They will not sit straight up and down what with the trunk mat and cardboard wheelhouse trunk floor extension. It will work but you will have to tilt it . This is not to say some didn't leave the dealer with them tilted just that the length precludes it from being installed straight up and down like many with out forcing it down to or through the trunk mat and cardboard. When installed vertical originals typically didn't touch the trunk mat. In the past most of the ones that I have found separate from cars were the same length as yours are even longer. I have to cut them down and recrimp them to a proper length . I am sure that is what the antenna vendor does . He just leaves them too long IMO. Other then the length you could use the one marked "maybe original" as a original yardstick when comparing differences to others.  If you are going to use ether on a Shelby and want it to look more like a factory one then I would cut the tube at the beginning of the crimp and re crimp the end . But that is just me. The coaxial cable looks typical to others that I have seen on Shelby's.

So a PM-300 that is 13.25" is not an original? Or is that what you meant as "approximately"?

Finally, a CSX2000 series Cobra. Huh?

CSX2345 "continuation series", a bastard by any other name when using the CSX2000 or CSX3000 series chassis number for a modern day recreation. Licensed or not.

So that car was originally Sunlit Gold and now Blue!  Still love Sunlit Gold

Paul

Sunlit Gold with Black top and interior.

Not certain how this extreme change will affect the final price vs what it bid to the last time.

So I posed your message to me for all to see what a nice guy you are!

I'm not taking sides here, but one rule you learn along the way is that private messages remain private, you simply do not post them out in the open without the original senders permission. This is a hard and fast rule for every public forum I belong to, since the 1990's when the internet was in it's infancy.

With that said, you really only get one chance to make a first impression, keep that in mind while you teeter on the edge of whatever story you wanted to tell, or still want to eventually tell. My advice, take a step back, a deep breath, and don't judge the group as a whole by what some members put into print.

Again, I'm not taking sides here, so, if you want to tell "your story", tell it, if not, then you need to ask yourself "why am I still here"?

Wish you well.

A week later, my car #100, shows up on eBay.  That's right, 1 number off from my holy grail car.  Bret went out to Vegas and wrangled the car for me.

I remember the story about the seller being "a little difficult" to deal with. That being an understatement.
