Why do people question the power of the Coralsnake?

🤷🏻‍♂️

They don't know you like we do  ;)

The code is identified in the Pantera paint code which is now obsolete and can't be transferred to a current code.

It struck me as looking like Competition Orange, which has various names. There were three oranges that I saw when I was the '68 registrars but they never had names, just numbers.

I have no idea if it is in Poland or where it might be. Just trying to shed light on the issue.

I currently have "Factory matched" Wimbelton white it two stage. It's off "just" a little.

I had left over Pantera Res #2 in Ditzler from '86 or so. I saved it for the formula. When I brought it to my guy, he didn't want to laugh but was very upset in telling me the current reality.

It turns out that Guards Red will pass for it. Just don't tell anyone.  ;)

With the paint code, a single stage (polyurethane) or a base/clear can be mixed with modern components. I have the modern version of the original Grabber Orange (BC/CC). It took us (paint tech rep and myself) a full day to find the match for the original paint under the fenders and original stripes. I figured I went through $600 in raw material to finally have a proper spray out card that matched.....See attached (disregard date shown, mix was 2012)...

PS: RHF75 was for that days specific humidity level measured in the booth the day I sprayed. Everything above it must be followed to the 1/10th of a gram. Any deviation will change the color/hue, yes, really.

If that is the car in NJ, it is Grabber Orange, 1 of I think 3 or 4 produced in that color, 72 & 73.

Which company made their aluminum cobras in poland? Maybe its cheaper to buy there?

That would be Kirkham, raw body and chassis only in Poland, everything else done in the states.

Clearly, as soon as he had issues with the ignition key, you knew it was going to be a bumpy ride.

As for the 289 roadster from SPF, due to a death in the family, I've had other priorities, but still managed to get almost 100 miles in mine since it was delivered. Having, over the years, been able to drive many originals, I'm finding the 289 replica to be a nice change from my FIA and 427SC replicas. Still plenty of power when I want it, ride quite comfortable considering the leaf spring suspension vs the coil over suspensions I'm so used to. The benefit of the 5spd is a plus. Handling, is what you would expect with a 70's series radial tire, braking, light years ahead of the originals, as the modern version uses Wilwoods at all four corners. Fit and finish, surprisingly well put together. Some minor issues with rattles, most due to the hard mounted exhaust, I'll deal with that down the road....One dash rattle I'm still chasing, but again, overall, a fun little toy that my wife and I will enjoy to drive. Anyone local to me in SC want to take a spin, let me know, if I'm around, I'm more than happy to add some mileage to the odometer.

Someone well known in the hobby just informed me that Kirkham had pretty much doubled their cost on the aluminum bodies this year, and the wait is long.  I'm sure they must have gotten hit by the same material cost inflation increases as everyone else.  Perhaps a used aluminum bodied car is the way to go?  I have a recently rebuilt original 289 HIPO that I've been contemplating as to what to install it in, that's what got me started down this path.  ;)

That is correct, per David, cost of a shipping container alone went from under 10K to over 30K, not to mention material cost increases, delays in procuring and shipping of those materials, even his propane bill all factor in to their cost increases. As with their past, every increase has not slowed down orders for their products, you want a slot, better get your deposit in sooner, than later.

Kirkham will als make a 289 street version with the 427 coil over chassis too.

With a brass body if you like  ;)

Can I ask, who makes the aluminum bodies for the Shelby CSX8000 series?  Is it Kirkham, or someone else?

Thanks,

Brian

I believe Kirkham is still the main supplier for SAI's Aluminum body roadsters.

Have a 70 Mach 1 that has Shelby stickers on front apron, and Shelby American plate, has 69 dash mounted ignition switch, holes that appear to be from 69 vin tag, but has 70 vin sticker
