Up For Auction / 65 HiPo Fan
February 12, 2020, 04:56:23 AM
My understanding is an original should have "FoMoCo" stamped on the blade. This appears to me to be a repro with the "SC" used in replace of the "FoMoCo". I remember hearing about someone stamping repro's as a filler to the real deal was sourced and this appears to me to be one of those. Can someone knowledgeable take a look at this one for sale?

Up For Auction / 65 K-code fastback
February 05, 2020, 03:38:27 AM
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Ford-Mustang-Fastback/174178588911

Item specifics
Condition:   Used   Year:   1965
VIN (Vehicle Identification Number):   5F09K634903   Mileage:   48120

Here is my survivor 1965 Ford Mustang K Code Fastback in original color code Raven Black with original Black interior. I have owned this car for the last 8 years and have only used it for cars shows, local charity events and few drives through Malibu Canyon. To the best of my knowledge everything on the car works as it should. The car was restored by the previous owner about 15 years ago here in California ( about 2500 miles ago) which included the motor overhauled to original hipo specs with solid lifter cam, original Ford hipo heads were serviced, the original 4 speed transmission was rebuilt with new clutch and 4 speed shifter kit so no popping out of gear issues, new black paint and complete new Ford style stainless steel exhaust system. The motor is the original matching numbers motor the car was born with (see picture of VIN# stamped into the block) stamped into the block at the factory. The car has the very rare Tri Power (three-two barrel carbs) set up and the carbs have been rebuilt and work fantastic. Last summer I had the Hipo Radiator rebuilt with new Ford correct hoses so no over heating problems. I had the original Hipo exhaust manifolds media blasted and reinstalled with new bolt locks. There is an updated Alpine AM FM stereo hidden in the glove box and updated speakers behind the rear fold down seat. I never use the stereo as the motor sounds amazing and the car is a joy to drive. The paint looks great from 5 feet away but is not perfect after being 15 years old but the car looks very original with the proper patina. As to vehicles all original correctness I can not confirm. I am not a mechanic or the original owner but will be happy to answer any questions to the best of my knowledge. The car is sold in "as is as shown" condition with no warranty written or implied of any kind. Any shipping costs, taxes, registration fee's of any kind are the responsibility of the buyer. The car will not be released until payment in full has been received and cleared bank. Local inspection and pickup is OK. This is a beautiful and rare 1965 K Code Mustang fastback in very original condition with the hard to find original motor and in the rare color of Black / Black. For those of you who know about these cars, this is a good one!  Thank you for your interest, bids and enjoy the ride.

Does the fender apron VIN, all or partial stamping, especially consecutive unit number section, appear to be factory?

I've pulled and saved these three bolts over the years from different unmolested standard bore 65-66 289 HiPo engines, on the rear of the passenger side cylinder head, used to secure the grounding wire. I never marked what date engines I pulled them from, hindsight is better than foresight.

Left bolt: Swirl pattern on head
Middle bolt: "L" with slightly visible round swirl marks in background
Right bolt: "L" without a visible swirl in background.

Do they all look to be original to location?

Which of the three would be considered correct for a mid-July 289 HiPo assembled engine?

What year/months roughly would each be correct for?

NOT MINE.

I hope someone rescues this poor K-code from the "modifications"...

I bought this Autolite voltage regulator and it is out of my experience verifying it is a genuine Autolite NOS Service replacement versus reproduction.

-Black painted lid is metal

-2AD date code has me thrown unless its 1972, would that be correct for the red Autolite box pictured with 1966 date?

Are screws for lid correct for a 65/66/67?

Pictures attached.

Heads up, there is some funny business going on here. 5th cap pictured is a C2OE-B instead of correct C3OE-A

I presently have a C4AW-C differential case (large bearing, single rib) built with solid spacer (instead of crush sleeve), 31 spline Eaton Truetrac, and 3:25 Ford gears. I'm running 205/70-14 street tires. Street driven, not drag raced.

I realize the 3:25 gearing ads to driveline stress.

Generally speaking what crankshaft torque and horsepower will the C4AW-C large bearing, single rib case support?

Generally speaking what crankshaft torque and horsepower will a 4-speed toploader support? (28 spline / Wide ratio)

I'm asking the above because I'm putting out 362+ Clb-ft @4,200 and 360+ Hp @ 6,200. Those figures were before having my carb. fully tuned. I'm finding out today I exceeded the clamping force of my clutch rated at 400HP (manufacturer will NOT give me a torque rating) and it got me thinking what driveline upgrades should I consider so I don't have additional failures...

Thanks for help.
