Up For Auction / Re: 65 K-code fastback
February 23, 2020, 06:33:18 PM
Relisted https://www.ebay.com/itm/174198631809?ViewItem=&vxp=mtr&item=174198631809

Pictures show the Autolite 4100 has a fake (reproduction) tag as bad as it gets. C4OF-AL with 5K (1965 October) date didn't exist.

VIN stamp on engine looks like a re-stamp based on my experience/comparison to an authentic June '65 K-code Dearborn stamped block in my possession. Thats my opinion.

VIN stamp on fender apron looks wavy to my eyes. Anyone else notice that?

I have not seen an OEM absent the "FoMoCo" stamping has anyone else? The fan at auction appears to have "SC" substituted for the "FoMoCo" stampings...

My understanding is an original should have "FoMoCo" stamped on the blade. This appears to me to be a repro with the "SC" used in replace of the "FoMoCo". I remember hearing about someone stamping repro's as a filler to the real deal was sourced and this appears to me to be one of those. Can someone knowledgeable take a look at this one for sale?

Up For Auction / 65 K-code fastback

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-Ford-Mustang-Fastback/174178588911

Item specifics
Condition:   Used   Year:   1965
VIN (Vehicle Identification Number):   5F09K634903   Mileage:   48120

Here is my survivor 1965 Ford Mustang K Code Fastback in original color code Raven Black with original Black interior. I have owned this car for the last 8 years and have only used it for cars shows, local charity events and few drives through Malibu Canyon. To the best of my knowledge everything on the car works as it should. The car was restored by the previous owner about 15 years ago here in California ( about 2500 miles ago) which included the motor overhauled to original hipo specs with solid lifter cam, original Ford hipo heads were serviced, the original 4 speed transmission was rebuilt with new clutch and 4 speed shifter kit so no popping out of gear issues, new black paint and complete new Ford style stainless steel exhaust system. The motor is the original matching numbers motor the car was born with (see picture of VIN# stamped into the block) stamped into the block at the factory. The car has the very rare Tri Power (three-two barrel carbs) set up and the carbs have been rebuilt and work fantastic. Last summer I had the Hipo Radiator rebuilt with new Ford correct hoses so no over heating problems. I had the original Hipo exhaust manifolds media blasted and reinstalled with new bolt locks. There is an updated Alpine AM FM stereo hidden in the glove box and updated speakers behind the rear fold down seat. I never use the stereo as the motor sounds amazing and the car is a joy to drive. The paint looks great from 5 feet away but is not perfect after being 15 years old but the car looks very original with the proper patina. As to vehicles all original correctness I can not confirm. I am not a mechanic or the original owner but will be happy to answer any questions to the best of my knowledge. The car is sold in "as is as shown" condition with no warranty written or implied of any kind. Any shipping costs, taxes, registration fee's of any kind are the responsibility of the buyer. The car will not be released until payment in full has been received and cleared bank. Local inspection and pickup is OK. This is a beautiful and rare 1965 K Code Mustang fastback in very original condition with the hard to find original motor and in the rare color of Black / Black. For those of you who know about these cars, this is a good one!  Thank you for your interest, bids and enjoy the ride.

Does the fender apron VIN, all or partial stamping, especially consecutive unit number section, appear to be factory?

I've pulled and saved these three bolts over the years from different unmolested standard bore 65-66 289 HiPo engines, on the rear of the passenger side cylinder head, used to secure the grounding wire. I never marked what date engines I pulled them from, hindsight is better than foresight.

Left bolt: Swirl pattern on head
Middle bolt: "L" with slightly visible round swirl marks in background
Right bolt: "L" without a visible swirl in background.

Do they all look to be original to location?

Which of the three would be considered correct for a mid-July 289 HiPo assembled engine?

What year/months roughly would each be correct for?

And the thing about it is, that the poor uninformed will most likely NEVER know the parts were misrepresented/fake.

They might... I remember when I was a kid I bought some signed baseballs and stuff like that only to find out lateron some were really bad fakes!

Paging Andrew@PookieWanabeMagMustangs  This reminds me of the C3OZ rear drums you once sold me beyond service limits you had me mail back for refund so you could probably sell them to someone else!

I hope you find one - these have become quite expensive and the crooks have been out in full force trying to sell fakes.  Hopefully you know how to identify the real deal from the clones.  It all comes down to the choke stop (:

Not full proof since I have seen that rib faked on at least one HiPo Autolite 4100 clone so far for a fact!

Positive feedback left by seller to MY account after returning the reproduction voltage regulator:

"BEWARE: This individual is dishonest and totally lacking in basic knowledge!!!"   Seller: 1955-57

eBay is removing it as false positive feedback.
