I have used Krylon black semi gloss for years and it works as good as anything else I have tried. It is cheap, goes on fast, and blends well.   

+1 Have had success with that as well.

So I own a company that does pinstriping, graphics, vehicle wraps, corporate advertising etc. I used masking tape over the opening and did a pencil rubbing, I scan that to my sign software and draw a vector pattern over that. I then cut a pattern in paint mask vinyl. I brought 3 of my wheels in and go back and forth making test fits and adjustments in the vector pattern to find the right balance of one or 2 patterns that fit the openings as best as possible. Probably went through 8 or 10 test fittings until I was happy. There are some consistent inconsistencies in how the centers were stamped out but there are some slight variations from wheel to wheel. We're talking 1/32 to 1/64 of an inch.

Yes, would be good to verify that ALL have actual ducting not a blocked-off opening.

"6T6/7" can you feel inside the scoop is not blocked-off? and is there an opening in the rear wheel wells, see attached for reference...

JD, yes can see and feel opening at each end and duct in between.

Bob, here's a view showing a couple additional rivets further back. I'll let you interpret as needed. Just providing data point which may or may not be useful for this production time frame.

FYI- There was some earlier mention of Jack Khoury and Jim Benavides. I think Jack Khoury was a production manager. Jim Benavides was the 427 Cobra Project Engineer (i.e., Chuck Cantwell's counterpart).

Interesting that the air cleaner base (that is, assuming its original to the car) doesn't have the small 1/8 nipple that's commonly believed to be correct for non-thermactor '67 GT350s.

Seems like the early version wouldn't necessarily be limited to carryovers. Looks like it might work ideally for early post-carryover cars.

Jon, at the risk of going by memory, I'm thinking the original filters had reddish maroon color seals. I think there were repos years ago with correct color seals, but are hard to find now. In the meantime, the filters you mentioned with orange seals should be fine functional replacements. Others will have more info (or corrections). Mark

I would think anything dated August '66 or later as too late to be '66 production, leftover or otherwise.  More likely intended for early '67 production?

It's important, vital perhaps, to have younger enthusiasts in order to maintain value and possibly long term existence of these cars. Welcome to the forum.

Ok, fair enough. Jeff, your always excellent photo documentation of original cars shows from about 6R130000 - 136000. My car is 6R113XXX. I would be curious to see anything in that vicinity if it shows up. When I first got my car it had polished non-flaired style, which didn't seem correct. So, not basing anything on that. In the meantime, I'll keep the satin flaired arms that I installed until new information supports otherwise. The polished would look better on my car IMO 🙂.
