Wanted to Buy / Re: Rear brake shoes
« on: April 07, 2023, 06:32:12 PM »

Bob,
Would these have the restoration details of the originals (65)?
-K/H 59843 3 pad bonded only,
-K/H 59845 4 pad bonded only,
see pic.

(Costella recently moved a lot of segmented rear shoes but they unfortunately were quite different from originals)
Thanks
Steve A

Parts For Sale / Re: 289 Hipo Rods // Boss 302

A subtle, but significant, distinction is that a Boss 302 rod is spot faced vice broached.

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: Owner of 5S449 Unique opportunity !

Crazily there are guys on this forum who paid a mere fraction of $1611 for their 65 GT-350s and still wrench/street drive their cars.
I’m waiting for a speculator to offer ‘original’ battery acid!

Back to carrying a spare set of Vise-Grips in the car, like the old days!

1965 GT350/R-Model / Re: R model/drag headers
« on: January 23, 2023, 12:38:52 AM »

Considerably earlier?
This FIA submission is dated February 9, 1965.
The debut of the R model was February 14, 1965 at Green Valley.
It pre-dates the introduction of the R model as a race car.

Intent is to get usable docs available to fellow owner/enthusiasts.
Still trying to figure out what the aforementioned 'mystery headers' look like ;)

Up For Auction / Re: Interesting set of Kelsey Hayes 15 x 5 wheels on ebay
« on: November 28, 2022, 04:58:54 PM »

They may well have been Ford wheels as these wheels were OEM on 55-56 T-Birds bearing part #B5S-1015A.

I suspect that that seller is sitting on a lot of these wheels.

Those are not Ford wheels. They are Willys wheels.
Specifically: they are Motor Wheel X-40046’s issued by Kelsey Hayes and given the Willys specific KH 46773.
There were Motor Wheel X-40046’s issued by Kelsey Hayes for Ford applications. They were given KH 44642 IDs and stamped both with KH and the FoMoCo script logo.
I have moved a lot of these wheels over the years (see attached).
These are not to be confused w the separate 15 x 5 1/2 C1AZ-1007-A wheels nor the C5ZX-1007-A 15 x 6.

SAAC Forum Discussion Area / Re: Dave Dralle info wanted

Edelbrock utilized Dave for their SBF R&D at least through the early 90s. He was instrumental in the design of the Victor 302 when he was in Torrance I can say for certain (and probably much more).
I think he may have used up all of his 9 lives!

Unibody looks intact. Title seems clear. Car presents well in present trim.
Is it possible to buy into a 65 any cheaper?
Not a ‘stocker’, appears to have an m-1, what has really been altered?

Cobra Automotive prep nothing to be laughed at. These cars cut their teeth as the premier club racers. Not bad.
Although this car could be ‘pulled back’’, w/o structural issues- why?
At 395k, there’s still room to do that.

Thanks Coralsnake.
