A potential buyer of this car would be well served to give close analysis to the structural spot welds associated with the front clip and the date codes of the component panels comprising the front clip and core support. At best, the hood latch mechanism (?) and LH fender replacement indicate the car has been disassembled/'worked on'/ or 'fixed' by someone without 1965 GT-350 acumen for unstated reasons. Collisions and expedient repair usually account for such unexplained mismatches.
This is not at all uncommon for 50+ year old high performance cars. Usually though, in cars of this value range, the repairs are expertly performed.......and seldomly disclosed.

This is where the loss of the 'HiPo K Exchange Forum' is especially poignant.
Bob Mannel was pretty clear there was no such animal.........

Besides being undrivable, that much of a toe issue usually tire-squeals so loud that you need to wear a mask.

OBTW is a collapsed upper ball joint OK if it's 'original'?

Other than a paint job it's totally untouched.
Honest.

The Lounge / Re: What happened to the Hipo 289 forums?!

Hasn't Marv recently posted here?
I would never blame him, rather thank him for a good run for many years. He did a lot more than most of us. Those crashes have just killed us and recovery has been slow.
There were some expert Ford technical experts there who talked substance (Fred, C6ZZ and formerly Bob Mannel, Tony Gregory and many more). It would be wonderful to get them over here. Even the residual parts exchange there was very usuable until the end. Our site here has been particularly diminished as a tech site.

Kiwi, a great guy, did us all a favor detailing that build on our old forum.
I'm surprised there is not more of this here.
Anyway I feel his numbers were right in line IMHO. Dynos can never be compared except for trend comparisons. Numbers can also be pumped on any build, on any dyno, for peak numbers which may not be your most usable combo.
On a flat-top 331, C7FE, w an archaic intake one could run 1.7s and a single plane and get the same longblock to appear more powerful perhaps....

Maybe someone bought it  :o

In all seriousness though, the value of a G2 top tank cover is approaching the area where I'm surprised we haven't seen a short-run of quality reproductions. I wouldn't doubt that 50-100+ couldn't be sold in short order.
I've only been looking for almost 45 years!

Yes you are correct.
A T10B is not an uncommon transmission.
Had one OEM on a 64 Fairlane 271HP K Sport Coupe.
Can't see where there is any reason to think this isn't a garden variety T10B.

This current ‘barn find’ is an all-star team of BS terms
(not to exclude the overwrought term ‘barn find’):

Wow, that is strong money. I guess the value is that, with that title, and an assemblage of dissociated seemingly original parts from other cars and sources, one can build the illusion of a 1970 SCJ Mach 1 (?).
