They were planned for production and used on the early G's, but then recalled due to manufacturing flaws and leaks and replaced with regular chrome '68 Cougar Styled Steel Wheels.

My G came with them and I have a set which I am going to restore.

Interesting reading in the AO smith letter. Those Radar wheels sound like they were poorly engineered or manufactured.
Something you would only use for display purposes, never to be driven on. Thanks for sharing the letter Philip

Richstang - yes, the Raders have an interesting history, starting with Mickey Thompson, that I won't go into here. Though mine were in use on a vehicle until recently, I wouldn't use them for any extended/highway speed trips.

Here is an add that always makes me wish I had a "wayback" machine.

Scanned and cleaned up by me from my private collection.

I'm sure most of us would love to have a crack at all those parts an bargain basement prices.
The "COUGAR" lettered valve covers & oil pan must be highly sought after these days.

Yeah, they obviously only made a handful of those "COUGAR" oil pans.

Love this ad too - perhaps Gurney had them use a Cougar as a jab at Ford for not running his heads on the TA Cougars like he wanted to.

If you had bought ten of each, where would you have stored them for fifty years?

Where I stored everything else - mom's house!

That stuff wouldn't take up much room -

I honestly don't think they even cast 10 of those oil pans.

While I'm on a roll here -

Very classy Castrol ad with wonderful Cobra artwork.

Scanned and cleaned up by me from my personal collection - in this case the April 1965 Marlboro Raceway Governor's Cup race program.
