Hi!

Please help identify if this plate has belonged to a real car or is it a reproduction?

I didn't find Cobra chassis numbers which had format like CSXX. Are all USA chassis numbers were CSX only?
Thank you in advance!

Its not something produced in the 1960s

Unfortunately, the water has been muddied considerably since then with fakes, recreations and continuation cars.

Regrettably, the various concerns that have reproduced these tags make finding cars with fictional VINs a regular occurrence. Way too many people, many of whom are in Europe, write to the Cobra Registrar with great excitement to reveal the "lost" car they have just managed to unearth, and which - not coincidentally - they have just gotten a deal on that is practically too good to be true. I derive no pleasure in patiently reviewing the old adage that any deal that seems too good to be true almost always is. And inevitably, the car they have just acquired is a piece of fiction.
