Early 67 exhaust cutout trim hardware

What is the correct hardware to attach the metal trim around the exhaust cutouts?Mine are riveted but the car was repainted once so they probably came off once..I usually see screws on restored cars.What is right?Thanks.

original screws in the top were a button head Phillips. Ill see if I can find the pics of an original 35k  miles  early Gt350

Not saying it's correct, but 0029 has flat-head button-head screw.

Dome head slotted screw is a better description  IMO. You probably mean the same thing.  A button head makes me think of something flat on top like a shirt button or pan head screw. The machine screw used was not flat on top.

there should be two studs that get nuts as well (standard on the '66 part)...the hole at the top center was added by Shelby workers.

  #0036's are like Alan's.  Slotted heads.  Bet they used what they had.

   Not mentioned:  the chrome is cut off 65/66 Mustang GT rear valance trim.

My 67, #1317 had the cutouts when I bought it in CA 1977. However, it was missing the trim.
I bought NOS GT trim hardware and there were three screws already mounted on the back side
which fitted perfectly in the three hoes in the rear valance. Cut off the bottom part and put them on
the car. No drilling required through the top of the trim.
Could it be that Ford changed this part and went from two screws to three. My car was ready at Ford
1/31/67 and at SA 5/25/67.

Nothing that I have seen indicates another procedure then with the added screw from the beginning of production. 0001 and large sampling around it had the screw in it for instance.

Anybody has NOS Mustang GT exhaust trim to check if they have 3 screws or only 2.

#130 had the screw at the top, two studs at the bottom..Bought from orig owner in 1982..

The Mustang GT exhaust trim only has the two studs after being snipped. The fact that it was snipped in two by SA made it necessary to add the screw at the top otherwise it could pivot outward from the valance given no support from a missing bottom half. There was no way for that to happen with the complete circle mounted on the valance surface.
