Looks like lots of cool stuff there.

One of the Tiger guys from Ohio (also has a small block Cobra) runs these types of events... I think that he surprises a few modern cars with the stock-looking Tiger (but not much is stock beneath the skin). I have a saved photo somewhere that he captioned "look what's in my review mirror" (Hellcat)  ??? ::)
If I have my numbers right, he was running in the 155 mph range with the Tiger a few years back (standing 1/2 mile)  8)

I like it racing in a corn field complete with John Deere support vehicles.

My cousin does something similar. It's called Slipstream Racing. You run a third of a mile from a 60 mph roll. That's supposed to alleviate the traction problems of standing start racing but cars like my cousins still have traction issues. Most cars running in the class are late models but my cousin runs an all steel 4200 pound 69 Chevelle with an approximately 2000 horsepower twin turbo big block. It's gone as fast as 191 but that's not fast enough for him. He sold the whole turbo setup and is putting a bigger system on the car. Yes this is a street car that he will drive on 100 mile trips. Power steering power brakes power windows power door locks air conditioning full sound system. We went to Pocono last year. They use the Front straight after coming out of Turn 3. Fastest car there that day was a dark blue Nissan GTR with New York plates. It went 200 .17.

^^ I'd say the Chevelle has earned that front plate!

looked like a bunch of the guys today were having "traction issues"  :o It would seem that the "older" cars would have some stability issues to address before running those speeds.
there were more than a few cars running over 200 - wow.

They usually take the top six traps speeds of the day and do a roll race shoot out at the end of the day, I actually won this event in my class a few years back(check out my SAAC stickers on my helmet)running another 911 turbo &  another video getting smoked by a Whipple supercharger Ford  GT & giving some smoke to a couple other muscle cars ,i usually run in the low 170 mph range ,when we roll race we usually do the hit at 40 mph To avoid the traction issues .And that's with FBO modifications running E-85, I've since got a built motor so the next event in SoCal is in November I expect to run in the low 180s mph

That Chevelle is incredible.
There are a few videos of his car on U Tube. Search twin turbo Chevelle slipstream to find them.

A street legal Ford GT set a 300.4 MPH record for the standing mile at Victoria, TX. By the video it looks like they still had throttle left to reach an even higher number.
