Hi All,
I am getting ready to order parts for my Shelby's  289 hipo rebuild and have not ordered
from JEGS before just was wondering if anyone has feedback on ordering from them?
also I will probably replace my old balancer and Scott Drake makes a Hipo balancer that is
supposed to be correct minus the ford logo.  I was thinking
about using this as well, but again has anyone used one of these balancers? Your time
and input is appreciated.

Jegs is great to work with.  They sometimes have sales so watch for the banners on the site and get on the mailing list.  Much like Summit although they have not charged me tax in the past (and Summit does now)

I would only use the balancers sourced through JEGS only if building some radical high horsepower track or drag strip engine. Cobra Automotive http://store.cobraautomotive.com/harmonic-balancer-63-67-289-hi-po-28-oz-external-balance-for-3-bolt-crank-pulley/    was the first to make the repro Ford Balancer. Yes it looks correct with the exception of not having a date code (which can be added) stamped on the diameter and it doesn't have any Ford trademark or engineering numbers on the front face . All markings on the front face are covered by the crank pulley anyway so out of sight out of mind. I am not sure if it is the same as the Scott Drake offers. I am not sure if JEGS or Summit handle the repro Ford balancer. The aftermarket high performance replacements varieties that JEGs or Summit typically sell would no doubt be superior but do not look the historical part. The historical assemblyline look may not be important on this highly visible part but in case it is I thought it is important to mention.

   +1 Cobra Automotive makes a great part that easily passes for a 55 year old original. Summit and Jegs buy an offshore balancer and add their 'branding". They do not look original by any stretch of the imagination. They also often are a different balance weight than an original even though they claim 28oz imbalance.

I've always had great luck with Jeg's and have ordered parts from them for years.  I cannot however speak to the balancer question specifically.  Best of luck with the build.

I think the OP actually had two different questions:  About Jegs generally, and about a Scott Drake balancer.  I don't think he was considering a Jeg's balancer, except, perhaps one of the Scott Drake ones they retail.  No knowledge about those balancers, although if the quality is consistent through the brand, I'd spend the extra $20 and get the other one mentioned.

Hi All,
Thank you for all the input on my questions , always great knowledgeable
help here. So I ordered a hipo balancer from Cobra Automotive , my engine is original
to the car and I don't plan on cutting corners while rebuilding it . I do occasionally exceed the
speed limit and don't need the engine coming apart due to a low quality part. I do plan on JEGS for
some other assorted parts.

I used a Scott Drake balancer on my car, it spun real bad. Had to send it out to the damper dudes to get rebuilt. Buyer beware on the new repo parts, all come from the same country that gave us the flu.

   I have used two from Cobra Automotive and they were both PERFECT. No clue about the Scott Drake piece.
   Jeg's sells good products , don't misunderstand my comment. My point was that their aftermarket balancer doesn't look like an original at ALL . I have also found the amount of counterweight to vary.

Good luck on the Hi-Po rebuild.  I'm in the same situation myself with my original block for 6S817.  I've always had good luck with Jegs and the things I've gotten from Cobra Automotive have been top shelf.  I got lucky when I went looking for a balancer for my engine and found the correct one I had squirreled away probably thirty years ago.  In good shape too.  Picked it up at a swap meet for $20 or $25 bucks.  Ah, those were the days.  Now if I'd only the forethought to have bought an Autolite Hi-Po carburetor for an automatic...
