The Mecum description claims   "Officially authorized by Carroll Shelby himself"  I wonder if they think the fact that he autographed the dash is proof that he officially authorized it . First off even if the autographed part was autographed separately and then added to the car or CS autographed it on the car CS most likely was not aware which car it was .  CS didn't get any licensing money for this car while he was alive that I am aware of . It would be interesting to press them on what proof they have for their statement not that it makes much difference on this car even if they did buy into a licensing deal in recent years with Shelby licensing. This car has been a perennial auction house hot potato for the past 30 years since the first guy (not Shelby) built it.

I don't believe so given the under funded budget it was initially built with. It has always had a Bogus Shelby VIN tag covering the Ford VIN.
