This is not my listing, I noticed it on eBay this morning. Here's the description:

An original 68 Shelby owners manual for Shelby 04222. Includes the original owners name , address, purchase date and the selling dealers name. It is in Fair Condition with normal wear but no torn pages. No reserve and  free shipping.

This is what I sent the seller:

"The right thing to do is go to Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) forum, have some there to help you find the current owner and give it to him/her. Those guys over there are experts on Shelbys and keep records of ALL Shelbys from 65-70. I'm sure the present owner would be grateful".

Well done!  And probably more grateful than an auction would reflect . . .

I literally just got a message from him on my eBay app. I haven't read it yet. I'm sure it will speak some sort of resistance. I'll post it if need be.

It's a nice sentiment, but not realistic.

This guy shouldn't have to give up his personal property without compensation.

What if he paid $50 for this, is he not allowed to make a few bucks?

Just my opinion, others may feel differently.

Lol, we'll Pete in the past most here that I remember reading about that had seen  a similar manual with the Shelby number imprinted inside the cover stated that the kind thing to do was give it to the current owner, if current owner could be found, and just ask for postage.

That's exactly what I would do. Money isn't everything, to me anyway.

Wondering why anyone would pay any amount for a document that had a serial number/Shelby number inside the front cover unless their intention was to find the owner to connect it with owner.

UPDATE:

The gentleman was very kind and actually did try to find the owner to get the manual to him/her.
Here was his statement back to me on eBay:

Thank you for the advice. Being a member of SAAC I did contact them about a year or so ago and inquired about the serial numbers on the manual. They said they had no information about the present owner of this car . That is why I listed it on e-bay hoping to find the owner. Again, thank you.John

Now, I'm done, no more to say.

I have several original documents and items  I would gladly share at no cost. I've done it many times.

I'm making a distinction between doing it willing and telling others what to do with their property.
