What have you got? It doesn't need to be Ford.

Crower has a nice one with stock specs.

PM me.

Guy on FE forum (engineer at Ford) had Comp Cams make a run of C8 cams.

There are several options. Crower is the most apparent but no one has anything immediately available.

Compcams does not have a direct replacement. I have one of their cams here already.

Melling had one but it seems to have been dropped?

Holman-Moody's listings of specs don't match others so they are just confusing.

I don't need help with who makes them, just finding one now, not in a month or so.

Just let me know it you have one ready to ship out now.

If you want to trade up, I have a brand new Compcams, .606, 294 solid lifter.

Thank you for you input though.

Holman moody specs are listed as the old Ford specs were. the cam companies dont use them. The C3AZ-6250-AA is the stock Ford cam used . It is the largest cam that can be used with enough vacuum for power brakes. Going by memory but think the comp cam is 270. Subject was gone over on old F.E. forum. Dont know if archives can be checked. Royce Peterson will know, very good on the 427 engine. he posts here often.

No problem.

I just talked to Compcams. They have no evidence that they ever made them (info in the computer)

Yes, the Ford numbers show 225 duration. The Crower shows 245. I can't find the Melling which really SHOULD be a copy of the Ford and maybe is even the original supplier to Ford on it.

Any of them will do for my purposes. Crower is out of stock on their own cam.

I suppose I need to cut everyone some slack as to it is just a bit of a dinosaur item? ;)

The issue is really finding one. Looks like I'll just have to wait? " C'est La Vie" say the old folks...goes to show you never can tell?" :o

I have a used C4AE-B cam that I ran in my 66 Fairlane 30 years ago. Not sure what it's worth or what I want to do with it or if it interests you.

Doug ,found some info on the old F.E. forum. the Ford cam C3AZ-AA or the 306-306 or sometimes the 274-274 was sold by trw or melling. Crane Fireball F294, Isky #3351350 Comp Cams #33244-4, 270 -270 s. John V at total performance may have a nos if he is still working.

I always thought the stock C3 427 cam was too mild. I've used a Comp Cams 282S in a 427 with a 428CJ crank. It's a great performing cam - in my opinion better than the stock one. Should be able to get one off the shelf at Jegs or Summit.

Hey Royce?

I like the 282s Compams but here's the thing, all of the exhausts on the FE heads are lousy. It doesn't matter if you are talking about a 'cammer or 352. They are all basically the same.

How you deal with that with a cam is to deal with the lobe separation angle.

What Ford did with their spec's was to go to a 114 separation. That Compcam is a 110 and the intake is advanced 4 degrees to a 106.

A 108 by comparison would virtually REQUIRE a restriction free exhaust system that includes the exhaust port in the head. 110 is one click backed off of that.

The Crower 16360  IS at 114 AND it is a 245 @ .050 which as a result reduces the overlap and idles like a pussy cat. "We've" already considered that here.

In fact, I do have the 282s in my 347. With the TFS heads, the thing is giving me 17 inches of vacuum at idle @ 800rpm warmed up BUT the exhausts on that head FLOW! my 428 heads don't.

So these are not intended to be debate issues on my part, they are acknowledgements of advantages and disadvantages of available choices and as far as being available, Jegs and Summit only offer any of these cams as dropped shipped from the manufacturer and some are showing shipping dates of January 18, 2021.

...and yes the stock MR cam IS a little milder then I would like. I thank everyone for their inputs.
