Only 68 Coupes . I have owned 6 of them. All California Specials. I really wished they did make a convertible. Because they did not, I made one. All the fiberglass is off a wrecked GT/CS. Hood is repo 67 Shelby.

I put a tripower on the car. 347 stroker.

Nice car. I wish they made a convertible, too. I take it, those are repro wheels? They look new.
Waitin' for the day I get my first '70 Shelby convertible!

California Special at Torgerson Ford, Crescent City, California. I think this is from one of those ads that dealers had high school students posing with the car ?

This is a great thread. Any more postings for the High Country Specials?

............did we agree that there were no fastback models made?

As long as you focus just on the 68 production year ;)

Here's a FAKE GT/CS. It appears to be a fastback, but is actually a convertible with a fastback hardtop roof added. Notice the convertible windshield moldings, convertible roll bar, and odd door window openings.

Here is the section about the '66-'67 HCSs. http://californiaspecial.com/1966-67-HCS-identification.htm
Jeff needs to say "OOPS" here.  ::) :-\

If your referring to my post above (reply #35) - that is why I specified that as long as the question only referred to 1968 High Country Specials ;)

Well aware of the fastbacks built in the earlier years

Quote from the web page you linked "This a key difference from the later 1968 versions which were only available as coupes."

Caught this one, but didn't think to get the vin, at the Autofest show, in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, just east of Toronto in 2009. I have a couple of others that I'll post later from shows in this area.

I have this great memory of Kiwi and I working on mine (Black) in his backyard,..bending a new fuel line to go from pump to carb. Then fussing with a few more details before going for a ride. Great times.
Nice looking car.
