Hi,
I am new to the forum. I joined hoping to find someone that might help give me a ballpark valuation on a one-off XD-1 with provenance. Or if you could just point me in the right direction that would be great too. (Also, I feel that I should mention that I just finished grad school so any fee based consultation would be kind of impossible at the moment.) Thanks!!

OK, I'll bite what's an XD-1?

Manufacturer...pics...year...class?

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Wait a minute....are your asking about the 1992 SAAC MKI XD-1?

Had to Google that one: One of the most famous SAAC cars was that of Steve Grebeck's. Built during Steve's time at Watson Engineering, this SAAC car is reported to be the first nitrous-assisted Mustang in the 8s. Steve terrorized dragstrips with this car in 5.0 shootouts and match races starting in late 1991. It was actually billed as an MK I and carried an XD-1 nameplate. The XD-1 stood for Experimental Drag Car. Sadly, Steve Grebeck was killed at a Fun Ford Weekend while racing in the Pro 5.0 class at Orlando in 2001.

Well I guess I should mention I'm the SAAC registrar for the '91-93 SAAC MKI, MKII, and SAAC Snakes.
Only 62 were built over all 3 models. 36 MKI's, 15 MKIIs, and 11 Snakes.

Of the 36 MKI's, 30 were production models, while the remaining 6 were prototypes.
MKI-XD-1 was the only drag car built, and considered 1 of the 6 prototypes.

Other than the current owner, I probably have more info on the SAAC XD-1 than anyone else.
Getting a real value on that car will be difficult without seeing what it's current condition is.
Last I heard it was in primer. If it need to be restored back to it's glory days that will ding the value a great deal.

Ah, yes. Sorry that handle is a little old, lol. I figured you were inactive and that I would try here. It is not in primer, still has it's paint/stripes.

That's awesome. They've had the car for many many years, but didn't know all those nitty gritty details.

polygrl

Can't get pics to upload here, but there are a couple thumbnails on the other forum now.

Richstang

Yes, we're currently having issues attaching pictures (might be a day or till that's fixed).

I've got a ton of photos, magazine articles, etc. that covers the car.
What can you tell us about it mechanically. How much is still there from '93?
