Slowly making progress on 4052, and was wondering if someone can answer a question. What colour are the stamped tin covers for the tail light panel? Should they be body colour, or a satin black.
Also, what type of fasteners hold them in place? Should they be a self tapping hex head or a phillips head. I have a bag marked 'back panel' with a bunch of mixed fasteners.  Would appreciate any help. Thanks guys!

Semi gloss black is the correct color

They are screwed in with a self drilling hex head head screw and sealed with rope caulk around the dome before installation.

Side-Oilers

I've always been curious why those pieces weren't cut with more precision.

I realize that they were hidden when the car was completed, and that it was probably a lowest-possible-cost process....but was it literally just some guy at AO Smith with a big pair of tin snips?

Its simply removing one of the vertical bars between the tail lights.

If you think 68s look ugly, study 1967s.
