I will take the recommendation under advisement.  Those smudge pots might make good roasters for chicken wings on a stick cookout this weekend.

Time to get those smudge pots lit.

Yes!  Protect that citrus crop.   I'd have done the same thing.  And so did my relatives who owned orange and grapefruit groves, back in the ol' days.

More good use for fossil fuel.  Probably clean-kerosene.  ;D

I've got one I'm going to clean up and use for a fire pit on the patio. They were burning a kerosene/diesel mix in it. My mom's uncle bought orange groves to build tracts of homes on from the 40s to 60s. 2 things he did I remember. He left a couple orange trees in each back yard. The other was digging a big pit where they dumped all the smudge pots and small pieces of construction material they couldn't use. They'd toss in 5 gallons of gas and burn everything. When they got done they filled the pit and moved on to the next tract. Between smudge pots and backyard incinerators it's no wonder we couldn't breathe or see the SoCal foothills 3 miles away when I was growing up.

Bang on. We have been living with -25 as the daytime high for over a week! The only positive, which really is not a positive, is I have finished restoring my vintage trunk ski rack for the cars. I even still have my old and skis/poles from 1970 to add to the rack. Will post a pic when the weather warms up.

It has been in the low 60s here in the Pacific for the past few weeks so we locals are bundled in triple layer clothing.  The Mai Tais, do not need to be chilled.  Heck, both Mauna Kea on Hawaii Island and Haleakala on Maui have had snow.

Still would rather shovel sand than snow and be able to cruise all year.  Winterize our cars means cool morning drives.  Heaters?  We don't need no stinkin' heaters. 8)

We used to go to St. Pete's Beach Florida, in early January, Gulf side for many years. We'd be on the beach on a sunny 50 degree

day in shorts and tees and the locals in their winter coats would look at us and say you must be from Canada !

We were tickling -40 the last couple nights.  At that temperature it doesn't matter if your in Celcius of Fahrenheit.  Thy are the same when you hit that brain numbing temperature.  Now that's what you call Freeze Warning.

Some said that buying this jacket was a waste of money ,  boy where they wrong. At this rate with the weather dropping so drastically,  this jacket won't make it to the second season !
