14” inch tires for 66 Magnums
« on: February 07, 2021, 03:10:10 PM »
Have a stock GT350 with non lowered control arms and am wondering about what’s the best 14” tire that won’t rub on the fenders
Any suggestions, tires on the car are approaching 6 years old and it’s time to replace them

Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

I ran BF's on mine, I ran 245 50s in the back and only rubbed when people sat in the back or if I hit a big dip. I ran 235 50s in the front. I had 600lb lowering springs in front and reverse eye leafs in the back. Loved the stance of the car with 14s and those tires, very aggressive looking.

Sounds neat but I have stock suspension, no lowering, (fixed typo, damn spell check) don’t think they’ll work

I'm running BFG T/A's, 205-70R/14, have plenty of room and my a-arms are lowered so you would have no issues. Next time I'm going with 215's.

I’m running smaller BFG T/A’s and am happy with them, I might go with the 205’s
Thanks

I've been running BFG's for the last two years with no issues. 215/60's in front and 235/60's in the rear. They fill out the wheel wells nicely but I don't think I could go any wider. Before putting the Magnums back on I was running repo ten-spokes with the same size Goodyear Eagle GT's that rubbed in the rear over large bumps.

I have a set of those Lucas tires and they're bigger than what a bias F70x14 was back in the day.  They are actually sized between a 215/70R14 and a 225/70R14. They rub on my car but my front springs and alignment are f'd up so I'm not a good example.  Backs are ok.

i have 215 70 14's on my car . . . Michelin XWX . . .  pricey, but they really work.

The T/A Radials come in good sizes, but are terrible tires.  Looking forward to hearing what other options may be out there after a fairly exhaustive search myself in preparation for spring.

XWX tires came on Ferraris of the period . . . they are V-rated.

Zoom in on the tires in the attached picture.

How do you like the performance of those?

I also have 215/60/14 BFG's on a non-lowered car.  These are good tires for the money.  I only use the car for cruise-ins and shows so I don't know how well they perform on wet roads, snow or on the track.
