Bit off topic, not surprised, many years ago my mother took her new Subaru for a service at the " dealer"  no less, when we picked

the car up I looked at the wheels and one of the discs had three of the fake wheel nuts broken off  ??? one of those wtf moments

when I  walked back into the service department  and told them, I wonder if the tech kept his job ! The did put a new disc on right

there.

I worked in Downey,Ca in the 80's on Firestone Blvd.......hubcaps get stolen at night ya know?

Foreground has a 66 Mustang convertible on the left; a 66 Fairlane Country Squire station wagon in the center; a 66 Falcon coupe on the right.

In the shadowed background is a much older pickup.

That's the way I see it.

I love the (circa 1959-60?) Ford logo next to "Downey" on the building.

Bonus points for anyone who can i.d. the building across the street from the dealer (in foreground)...by the shadow of its sign.

    Ned , I'm sliding off topic but IIRC Theodore Robbins in Costa Mesa ( also local to me) had three Series 3000 cars and two took a couple of years to sell. ( like '68 or 9) . At least one was a 428. Do you know those car numbers.

Randy, Theodore Robins did get 3 427 Cobras, and each was actually a 428 car. CSX 3264 was red and was bought in the early '70s by Rod Stewart; CSX 3272 was silver; and CSX 3292 was green.

Interesting to see the gap between door and front fender , not in today standard concours restoration !!! :D

Thanks Ned!!!!! The silver one must have sold as the red and green were the ones I saw in the showroom. My friend that worked there was over Wed and related that the Robbins family was pretty desperate to get rid of those two. She didn't remember Rod Stewart buying the red one, but "he" might not have been there to do it.

I'm probably remembering this incorrectly but I thought the story was that Stewart "bought" the car from a used car dealer around 1975 after reading the press that it was "the fastest car ever offered to the public"?

What I remember is that the car was flat bedded to him at his home. When it arrived he jumped in, drove it around the block and said he didn't want it and take it out of here.

At the time and probably still, he was a Porsche 930 guy.

I don't remember the story being tied to the original Ford dealer as a new car purchase?

That was a story revolving around the SOA and might have been before SAAC existed?

Ned. How off am I on this story recounting?
