For those intending to drag race,

Safety is paramount!!!!! Things to do on your car BEFORE you leave home.
1 ALL lug nuts on all four corners.
     2 Seat belts
     3 helmet
4 Tire tread or rubber on slicks
5 Racing slicks require a driveshaft loop ( not drag radials)
6 coolant overflow "catch can" ( soda can or hose to the windshield washer)
7 check for and correct leaks of any kind.
8 make SURE the battery is securely held down, bungee cords aren't cool here.
9 "True racecars" MUST comply with NHRA safety standards for the appropriate ET.
10 NEVER read NEVER turn around "on the track" PERIOD.
Doing all of this will help you sail through tech AND show the track officials that WE care.
If anyone needs instruction or would like some tips , I will be available Friday

Will  there be Division 1 and 2 judging at the convention ?  and if so - where does one sign up?

Can someone provide an overview of SAAC the convention process?
Is it all inclusive package with hotel or do you have to find/book your own hotel?
Sounds like Embassey suites is the "home hotel"?
Car trailer parking?
Safe parking for cars?
Unjudged car show/peoples choice?
I saw judged concours is planned
Also saw drag racing is in, as is track time on the road course
There are probably more events?

To the hotel discussion....

Sheraton Wine Country is a good fallback hotel that is super convenient and the road to/from is low traffic as other roads are sometimes problematic.  Usually this is the home hotel for the Audi club when they do their event @ Sonoma.  I think there are a few more around the Sheraton but hotel choices are fairly good around since the track has all sorts of National events like NASCAR, NHRA, etc.

If there are going to be events at the Embassy Suites- be aware some of the hotels are in opposite directions to each other and the Cobra Experience is away from everything else so plan accordingly.

I imagine there will be a website published very soon that addresses a lot of questions.   Just watch your emails for a notification.

FRIDAY, FRIDAY,FRIDAY,  Drag Racing is ON!!! I hope many will use this chance to "wring your car out" safely. Race you friend , Challenge the "world famous" Howard Pardee to a grudge race. We usually get 60-100 cars and get at least ten runs each. Watch out for the Teslas! Challenge me to a grudge race , let's have fun!

Howard has been known to unscrew the red light on his lane
Won't be able to make this convention, but I'll take my car down the Local "Triton Beach Drag-a-Way" as an east coast tribute race. Street racing still lives
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

You make your own reservations at Embassey Suites, they have a group code. They usually supply list of other nearby hotels.
May rope off an area for SAAC, but many "civilians" ignore and park there.
Popular car show, yes. Judged concours is for very serious cars only.
Drag racing planned and track time at Sonoma Raceway is available.
Cobra Experience is something you will want to go to.
