Just a quick question about the rims for my KR. I found the date code stamped by the valve stem, but can't seem to find the C8 part number. According to Coralsnake.com there should be a regular part number as well. Is it stamped on the inside of the rim, necessitating the removal of the tire?
Maybe Pete can shed some light for me.

                        Thanks, Pete.

The tire has to be off the rim, to see the numbers

Super! Thanks for the quick reply.

What are the numbers by the valve stem? In the center between the lugs?

You should have K28 or K38 in center of rim between lug holes besides the date by the tire stem. Hope this helps.

That is some of the markings there are others that don't have those

Peter L.

Did not look closely at the center of the rim by the lug holes.
To the left of the valve stem it is stamped  K2 with a 9 under it, and to the right of the valve stem it is stamped  20 60.
I'm going to remove the tire and look inside the rim for more numbers.

Also, there seems to be a blueish/grey paint mark on the inside of the rim, and some letters in white that I can't quite make out.

I  think you are going to determine these are not original KR wheels...

Peter L.

I'm guessing you're probably right, considering the history of this car.  lol
Will the hubcaps fit on any 15x6 inch rim from that era, or were they unique to those cars?

              Thanks again,   Pete.

The hubcaps will fit any 15 inch steel wheel

Peter L.

That's good to know, as I only have one wheel at the present. The car was pretty much parted out. See photos...... lol.

i have a collected 3 sets of steel wheels with date codes at the valve stem.
Presemtly trying to assemble a set with early date codes in the center, 12 - 7 or earlier.

Might have 2 or 3 would possibly trade for later dates. Earlier more valuable

I believe this wheel was made in 1969 as I have early 68MY wheels with K2 over 7 and what appears to be 1967 date codes. Also have later wheels with what appears to be 1968 date code that have K2 over an 8. Based on that, My assumption would be 7= the year 1967(Note: I have 2 1967 dated wheels that are blank in this area ), 8= the year 1968, 9= the year 1969. I would like any other input on 68 Shelby steel wheel info ( stamping #'s, dates ect.) from anyone. I have info from 23 wheels to date.
