66 Hertz Radiator Hose Clamps
« on: April 24, 2021, 11:42:57 AM »
Which style clamps should Hertz 1502 have, the pedestal or the stapled wire style?  Car has sheetmetal and components stamped between November of 65-February of 66.  Car was shipped to Hertz around Mid March.

Thanks
Chris

Most likely the wire type. The hoses will be marked different also depending on clamp used if you are going for that detail also. Pedestal typically were used with the FOMOCO in the oval and the wire type had the FOMOCO in the rectangle along with a stamp with the abbreviated letters  PAT PEND

Given the car number and Ford VIN agree that it would have had the Pat Pending and wire clamps with staples Like the ones below

At what build number would they have gone to the full metal clamp rather than the wire clamp?

definately earlier than car 1502 for the pedestral type of clamps on radiator hoses.

im sure Jeff Speegle will be able to provide a closer car number or a vin number from other non Shelby cars for the transition from pedestral to wire type clamps on San Jose cars only.  ive got my own ideas but it is limited to a small number of cars

Remember, if you buy the wire clamp style, fabricated by Marti Auto Works, be sure to call them directly and have them cherry pick a longer upper hose.  Their supplier tends to make them on the short end of the tolerance and may be too short for your car.  You want one made to the long end of the tolerance.  If enough consumers do this, they might get the idea to have their supplier make them all to the long end.

Best of luck
