I have  a t 10 trans with a id of t10 that has t10b-1 on the main housing. and t10b-7 on the tail trying to figure what is goes to.

98SVT - was 06GT

It's iron so not a GT350 or Vette. Here is a chart that will tell you the model number (tailhousing shape) but not the application. Once you have the number you can search further. Pull the side cover and count the teeth to get the ratio. I'm told the pros can figure out the ratio by small grooves machined into the input shaft.

Fairly common tranny. The T10 B-1 / T10 B-7 combo was used from 1960-1964 with 221, 260, and early 289 5 bolt engines, primarily Galaxies and IIRC 260, and early 289 Cobras.

Yes, the Cobra main cases and tail housings were aluminum and had close ratio "high nickel" gear sets'

Wasn't sure, thought I remembered reading early Cobras had iron cases.

Found the reference I was thinking of: http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/originality-forum/139752-fivebolt-bellhousing-identification-2.html which unless I'm misinterpreting it (?), indicates that is correct.
