Doesn't look like many changes. I predict they will change very little on the body - to keep the image. Underneath however is where you'll get the Explorer platform they have been playing with. I predict the V8 is gone and the "GT" engine will be the same V6 Hybrid currently in the Explorer but upped to around 400+ combined horsepower - rumors of detuned Ford GT V6 are probably just adman hype. Paddle shift automatic? Hybrids don't do well with sticks.
Sure "Mustang" people will be upset but since Ford sells every one they make they could care less - it's all about being green and PC for them today.

2022 Explorer engine is coupled to 10 speed auto: 3.3-liter V6 engine and an electric motor with a combined 318 horsepower and 322 pound-feet of torque

Happy with the Boss 302 Laguna.  No intentions of trading "up."  It's too tough being green.  Just ask Kermit.
"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

We worry about that "explorer platform" .... The end is near

I clearly understand,  but so have 99% of everyone else who has attempted to race one.

Impressive is the acceleration as it squats down and doesn't burn rubber, it just goes.   Guess that explains those 0 to 60 under 2.9 seconds

Let me know i will  hook you up with a salesman we know at M. S. R. P.

A platform is not an issue. You can build anything that you want on any platform.

You can lengthen, shorten, raise, or lower it. What matters is what goes on it and what powers it.

A platform is not an issue. You can build anything that you want on any platform.

Mustang was born on a Falcon platform then it went to Pinto, Fairmont, Fox4 was an upgrade and the SN95 Mustang was the last car using this platform, S197 is a Modified D2C - Thunderbird/Jag,  The S550 (current) is a heavily modified S197 due to the IRS. The next one will be the first time an SUV chassis is used. That same chassis was designed to have a V6 as it's biggest engine so we'll see how much they change. Also don't forget Ford tried to peddle us the Mazda MX6 FWD chassis as a Mustang but the uproar made them change the name to Probe.
And yes you can build anything on anything - Remember how great the "new" prototype Camaro looked at the shows? What happened is when it came to production GM decided to use and existing Aussie platform and had to change the body around to fit it over the suspension pickup points resulting in a car that no longer resembled the prototype.

As a mustsng guy i find this all depressing,  the next stang will be built on a truck platform.

To put it bluntly this sucks

The C8 is built on a C8 platform

Guess what we are buying next ?
