Did one or the other come automatically with the package and someone needed to specify a change on the order to the other type?

The "only" thing i have noticed about close & wide ratio trans installs are they will all have the same DSO. Also i thing there is a note that could be added to a "pre-production order sheet".  Not a sure thing that if you asked for it, if it would happen!

@Shelbydoug,

The ratio I meant was for the rear axle gear set. I just checked the Marti again and it is a 3.00 ratio.

I had a “Sometimers” moment :)

The Wide ratio with the 3:00 is very nice to drive.

Chris/ thefordshow, you mentioned that the car was restored in western Canada. Any other info? Thanks Steve

Just so happens that "both" close & wide ratio transmissions were available on gt350's with or without a/c. I have yet to find an answer.

Just to add, I remember an article on the then new 1970 Boss 302, in one of the automotive trade magazines back in 1970(?), and it stated as I recall, that the test car had been fitted with the "close-ratio" box, unlike as was intended to be fitted by Ford, as there was a shortage of the appropriate "wide-ratio" units for production at the time. Maybe someone else recalls this?  ???

Perhaps, this is a question for the Boss forum: If the above is correct, how many Boss 302's actually were original equipped with close-ratio boxes, and have since been "rectified" with wide-ratio boxes in restoration?  And, would this be reflected in the Marty Report? :o

Didn't intend to hy-jack this thread but.........someone else started it!   ;)

     Scott.

I ordered my GT-350 specifically with the wide ratio 4-speed and the 3:25 Traction-Lok rear.

If the car is going Stateside you should be able to get it shipped for about $2500. The great folks at LMC will be able to help you out with all of those details.

As for the transmission question about wide or close ratio transmissions. The 70 GT 350 I drove cane with AC came with a wide ratio transmission and a 3.05 rear axle for fuel economy. It really is a nice setup to drive with the power steering and brakes. Good power and easy and light on the controls.

Of course I am comparing it to the drag pack, SCJ with manual steering and close ratio transmission and 3:91. A fun beast but not as light feeling on the controls in comparison. Cleaning the rubber off of the rear quarters is time consuming.

nice comparison as my 2 cars right now are my 4 speed Shelby vert and my SCJ 4 speed manual steering(391 geared) 69 Mach1. totally different drivers. :)

I can finally say that the GT 350 is in my garage. It took a little longer to get out of Canada , but was worth the wait, as it still retains original sheet metal and fiberglass. Thanks Steve

That's one car that I would consider trading my '67 for...I would prefer a '70 though.  I love the chin spoiler, the hood stripes, and it's my birth year  ;)
"it's my birth year" I just felt arthritis kick in all over my body :'(
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎
