Wow, and to think cars like these were considered junk after their racing careers were over.
Thanks,

Car is local to me. Kevin has had it a long time, and just did a restoration. It's awesome.

I've been chasing more info on this car for a while...

Of particular interest is the photo with the woman sitting on the hood in front of the tent.
(noted as one of the the third owners,  Mary Ellen Wilkins on the ponysite.de)
http://www.ponysite.de/67_shelbygroup2_7.htm

I believe that photo was taken at the San Francisco  area 'Mustang Day' / Rally sometime in 1968.
When? DUH... 4-17-68

There is a another photo of that event that shows a wider angle in the stadium it took place at.
There many special cars under the tent such as the visible Mustang II concept car.
What else was under there[/b]?
The car behind the group II sedan looks like it could be a R model.
We need to find more pictures to answer the remaining question!

Rich, thanks for posting, I remember those photos from the show with the tent discussed here before.

Here's one I have in my files (#30 I believe it to be the same car ?) when owned by Clay Priola, at Laguna, avoiding a moment at

The R model look a like might be the 1965 GT350 advanced prototype 5019.
It had the cove painted in 1966 and raced at Candlestick park in SF.

Along with the Mustang II concept car under the tent...
appears to be the George Barris built 'Sonny' or 'Cher' 1966 Mustang convertible.

There have to be more photos from this Day out there!

Another unique car on display (in front of the tent opening on the left side) appears to be a "Branded" Mustang.
This attached photo shows it with the California Special style side stripes extended onto the rear quarter panel.

'kranky' noted the correct stadium, named as Kesar in San Fransisco. (Thanks)
