Guys,

I am going tomorrow to look at a car that the Shelby Registry shows GBBAHYYR4 which translates to Highland Green, Black Interior, Black Top, Automatic, Steel Wheels with Hubcaps, AC and Tilt.  The door tag and the buck tag on the car shows Red and the car is presently Red.  Seller, of course, says it is not a color change car.  Everything else on the car looks correct.  Is there any other place on the car to verify original color?  I tend to rely upon the registry but I guess there is always a chance that the data is wrong.

It's almost impossible not to find the original color...
Inside trunk up top...
Or pull up the back seat...

If it was green it's likely there ....

If you're not making your final decision today, take good pictures of the tags and ask the 68 experts for their opinions on originality.  If you don't want to post them, email them.  I am somewhat suspect of my buck tag.  It is way too perfect for a 50+ year old tag that is held on by one screw at the center of the top edge.

After I looked at the car, and talked with our very helpful registrar, and saw the Marti Report, I am firmly convinced that the car was born in Highland Green and became Candy Apple Red sometime in the 1970's.  The door tag and the buck tag have are repops and based upon my conversation with our registrar that is not seriously in question because there is some wording on the buck tag that is just wrong.  With that said, it is a very solid car and has terrific body and paint.  If the seller gets his price back to earth I may end up with the car.
