Just an FYI on my feedback regarding prop rods. Even though the rod I have is a reproduction at 34 1/2" long, I found the hood was annoyingly low. More than four times the rod had slipped and came crashing down even with the rubber tip I put on it.
Bo's (texas swede) original at 31" is even shorter. That, I would find useless.
I resorted to two (one each side) 7" stainless cables with loops on each end (Home Depot) in place of the hood springs location tabs. You can adjust the length and opening height of the hood and it's rock solid. Some guys use a piece of linked chain but those rattle and look out of place. Definitely not original but functional.

Cheers,

Earl, I love always seeing your engine compartment with those webbers. So beautiful...I have a repop rod from Jim thats about 20 years old..dont have the spring hardware like yours..I feel like I should buy yours instead of trying to figure it out in the future..lol..

Jbarela,
Are you referring to Big Jim Colwes, as I used to call him ?
If so, he came to my place in Utah for #137.
It had a prop rod hood.
Car was also a special order from Shelby with weird shit, documented.
There is a video of that car because it was so original, had factory markings all over it.
If you bought your prop rod >> from Big Jim, I would highly "assume" it was patterned off that car.
Respectfully,
John

Can the diameter of the prop rod material be confirmed please? Appears to be 1/4" but I'm a firm believer of the "ask and order once not twice" approach! Does anyone have photos of the rod to hood contact point? I'm interested to see if it was bracketed or used an existing recess. Many thanks.

I have 1 off the car 65  233   the rod measures 31 3/4 and is 5/16 in diameter.

No rubber on the tip . Might have been originally but nothing now.
As far as where goes into radiator support there are washer /spring/washer and this had cotter pin

My recollection per #41, #137, and # 530 R
washer, spring washer clip.
I am NOT saying that all 65's were the same, just that we have four accounting's now including #233.

Anybody have pics or have an early 67 with prop rod?
If so, any pics ?
Thanks
