KR Tire Identification
« on: April 27, 2022, 02:45:20 PM »
Bought a KR fastback in 1989 and this tire was mounted on a steel rim for use as a spare.  KR has since found several new owners but the tire was lost in storage and reemerged today.  Is this an example of the black wall Goodyear Polyglas tires used on KRs?  Tread depth is ~1/4”.  My KR was shipped originally in 9/68 according to registry.

From what I can see in the photos you posted the tire does appear to be the correct tire that came on KR's and possibly some late 68 GT350's. With a more complete photo of the tire code one could possibly tell if it could potentially  be original  to the car by comparing manufacturing dates. The tire looks to be in very good shape and would be worth a good amount of $. Don't loose it again.

Yes. If I am interrupting the code correctly the tire was made in June of 1968 in Akron, OH
