Smog Pump Marking, GT500KR
« on: June 08, 2022, 09:38:17 PM »
Date  8 G 11 1 (July 11th 1st shift)
There are two paint markings on my pump.
(Blue and Orange?
The blue paint mark looks more like overspray.
The orange (or similar color) is more like a brush on mark across the Mfg stamping date.

I believe this pump is original to the car.
I want to put these markings back on the unit as part of the restoration.
Are these markings consistent with late July built cars?

Thank you

Fran

Have only seen green on  certain smog pumps but most have no paint.

Agree the blue is likely engine repaint overspray

Have not seen orange on the pump housing that I recall. I'll check and if I find something that matches I'll post to help out

Have seen green on several. Never any other color. The green is like applied by a spray can, perhaps some sort of inspection mark.

Double checked and only found one other with a similar but not exactly the same (different color and location) from a different year and style of pump so it likely is not related.  Mark IMHO likely identified the specific type/model of pump rather than an inspection marking, so that it helped quicken finding and installing the right one out of possibly a half dozen or more.  These were made and supplied by an outside vendor if I recall correctly.

Here's one of mine - you can see the green blob on the side.
