I remember back in 1994 when some of the Soccer World Cup matches were played in Dallas. Sweden, my country of birth, was playing Saudi Arabia at the Cotton Bowl Stadium and it was over 100 degrees F and we were sitting in the sun. People around us asked how the Swedish players were handling the heat. My answer was, no problem for them, but the Saudis are freezing.
Sweden won 3-1 and went on to get a bronze medal.

Yes, hosting some of the games in the US are a good thing. A very good thing to look forward too.

International soccer in particular though does seem to have more then the usual influences of following blind and hostile allegiances rather then other popular sports followed here? Something that used to be more of a non-US philosophy but completely consistent with demonizing the opposition with no hope or reconciliations.

I suppose that it was naive to think that wouldn't change here considering both the physical migration to here and the associated polarization that so many other cultures exhibit.

Still, better to battle it out on the field, accept the results and just move on without retaliation in the parking lot after the game if possible?

I think each of the players should be armed during the game to mix things up a little and see what might happen.  Or mix the sport with auto racing and put a bunch of NASCARS on the field with the players. Just a thought. But hey, not all my ideas are good.
