I understand my opinion means diddly squat and there are people that have a lot more disposable income than I can personally relate to.
I think the seller unknowingly open a can of worms by disclosing the prior accident and rust repairs. Its a dilemma many sellers have struggled with. This was compounded by the fact there was only one owner, so they couldn't claim ignorance .
Having said all that, I dont think the auction was manipulated based on other BaT activity. I agree about the rear axle housing being a pretty good tell of previous condition. The 179k bid was more than fair in my estimation. Although its hard to evaluate workmanship and repair work from the photos.
The blue KR and the green one coming should be interesting and give us some more context.
One other note, I refuse to fall into the trap of arguing with those on that site who dont have the best interests of the marque in mind. They instead want to make uninformed comments about certain years being "better" than others.
I stopped punching out of the heavy weight class years ago and they can squabble amongst themselves.
