Dave,

Nice batch of pictures.  You even got a couple of my car 8) (look for the S7MS-427 plate).  And a whole bunch of Art Nigro's awesome Boss 302 Autolite Inline powered G.T.350.  The back story on that car is very interesting.  As I recall Art made the re-engineering of the inline for the street his senior project for his mechanical engineering degree.  I'd say he really earned his degree.

Roy,
Thanks. I saw the plates and realized who's it was but there was no one around to talk to (was kinda late on Saturday when I was there). Would liked to have talked to Art about his car too. Steve McDonald was telling me about how Art modified that inline including making the outboard venturis vacuum secondaries (you can see the secondary vacuum housings adapted to each end of the carburetor in the photos). That whole car was nicely engineered and modified, all using period stuff. A Boss 302 in a 67 GT350 is tough to beat (as is a 427 in a 67 GT500), just not enough of those kind of period modified cars around anymore

Dave,

It is kind of fun playing with the "period modified cars" as you call them.  And then again, my Hertz car is my almost survivor.  People seem to like the fact that it hasn't been modified and I like the fact that I'm not going to have to spend a lot of money on it.  Both cars are fun and I'm planning on having both of them there next year.  My son will drive the GT350 into the show.

Art’s car was an amazing set up. I like his quote” Shelby modified Mustangs, I modified a Shelby”
The engineering and workmanship was amazing. Talking to was like hearing every idea you every had come to life.
I told him he needed to do a complete story for the Shelby American
Great car and an even greater guy
Owned since 1971, now driven over 245,000 miles, makes me smile every time I drive it and it makes me feel 21 again.😎

Mike, supposedly there were three trucks built, but that may actually be the only survivor. As for the Sterling Moss photo,  that indeed is the same photo I saw in the book.

I've got the title - In Praise of Day Two Cars. I also prefer "period modified cars" over the 100% restored trailer queens that have lost their soul.
