The Shelby GT350 is an iconic American collectible. Produced in limited numbers, they have never lost their desirability in over 50 years. As the 1965 examples took off for the stratosphere of valuation, the 1966 examples (post carryover cars) come into focus as the "approachable" ones to collect, use, and drive. The car here is fits squarely into all of those buckets.
6S321, an early 1966 car, was sold new in Florida and had several subsequent owners in Florida according to the documentation file.  A unique part of the history of 6S321 is that it transferred between three dealers before finding its first owner. Ordered by Richardson Ford in New Mexico in November 1965, it later transferred to Ray Hunt Ford in Daytona Beach, FL, and then on to Johnny Bolton Ford in Maitland, FL.
Just a few months of ownership led to an engine warranty claim in May of 1966.  The original engine was replaced under warranty by Johnny Bolton Ford in Maitland, FL, with approval by Shelby American (see SAAC documents). The documents show it was low oil pressure with tappet noise. They replaced the whole engine under warranty at a cost of $395.38. Engine numbers can be seen in the photos below.
In 1985, a Mr. Smith purchased the car (and continued his ownership until 2014), and helped to track down the previous ownership history from the Florida DOL. There are also a handful of handwritten letters between owners that are enjoyable to read in the history file.
The car was purchased by the current owner in 2014, and after receiving substantial mechanical reconditioning (all brakes, suspension, bushings, cooling system, etc.) via Orlando Mustang in Florida, was shipped to Seattle where it resides today. Upon further use in Seattle, the transmission was rebuilt as well to original specifications in 2015.
The exterior paint was re-done in 1982, and shows heavy signs of use and early 1980s prep. If you are looking for a concours paint job, look elsewhere...this is a 15 footer. However, that gives it the attitude it needs – you can drive it as is, enjoy it for a number of years, and then restore it later to a higher level to show and display.
Showing 75K miles (believed to be correct), 6S321 has had loving caretakers that continue to use the car as first desired by Shelby. Never apart, scattered about, stolen, or otherwise – she remains very original and correct today. The doors close with the sound that seem to only come from original cars, and it flat out turns heads every time in traffic.
The interior presents very well in person, with original seats (tags and burlap underneath all present), belts, and most surfaces throughout. The steering wheel is currently a reproduction item, and the original wheel is included with the sale.  There are a few small boxes of spare/used parts that come with the car as well.
Offered with a documentation folder showing extensive service records from 2014 to 2018, as well as ownership transfer history from 1966 through current day. A full SAAC document set is included as well in this folder. Recently fitted with new tires, a new battery, and a full alignment, this GT350 is ready to enjoy as is today...or be the base for an easy restoration of an iconic American collectible!
