To you who own a 70 Gt 500,what is the date casting number on your distributor?. How I understand this is that the 70 models should have D0TF casting number, can any owner enlighten me here?

I believe it would be a C9 number, since all cars were built as 1969 models

I thought that due to the emission rules in 1970 they upgraded the 70 model with a 70 model distributor.

The 69 carburetor was modified for the 70 GT500 but in the case of the Distributor it was easier to replace it with the corresponding 70 model which had the different advance curve needed for 70 emission standards.

70 gt 500 dist. were changed to dozf dated fall 69 & auto got single point & 4 speeds got dual points. I have talked to John Harp who worked at KK plant about this changover & next time i talk to him i will ask him what happened to all the c8of dist. that came out of the 70 gt 500.

Thanks for the info Ed!

My '70 GT500 4-speed car has the original D0ZF distributor with a date code of August 29, 1969. (Here is a pic - It is out of the car to remove the silver paint from the previous owner).

Hello
Now this is interesting, hope more 70 owners would join in and report their date code on the distributor in their cars.
What is the date when your car was sold Mike

Thor,
Car was built on June 11, 1969 and Sold on 5-19-70.

Ed,
Thanks for confirming the distributor.  I'd be interested in seeing what the white DOZF engineering number decal looks like at some point.
