To receive FIA certification it would have to have a 289 engine.

Shelby Engines is producing an aluminum block 289 HIPO.  Easier to stamp your VIN into it.

    I've often thought, it would be fun, to install a Ford engine, in a Corvette, making it look as
    Factory as possible ( orange paint and all ) and then drive it, to a Corvette meet. Pop the
    hood and stand back, to watch the fireworks. ;D
