I will give Ford the benefit of the doubt until further investigation.  But it's sad to see.

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Cash payout I suspect. Probably insured for 1.8 million measured by the auction of the only one sold from private hands.

I am betting Ford is already involved, maybe already in possession of the GT.......just like the Yellow Shelby GT 350 that burned.

Very sad and interesting at the same time. Anxious to see how this plays out.
Nothing beats a classic!

A Jalopnik article said it happened at a train station and the owner was with his son. The owner apparently is a car collector with an impressive collection. Maybe I should blame my Canadian breathern North of the border at Multimatic where the GT is made.

Interesting that the guy noted a Porsche GT3 recall with a cease-driving order.  There was one of those on the 05/06 Ford GT's as well, if I remember right it was something with the suspension/steering.  Dealers were flat-bedding the cars in to have them fixed.

It was on the first half of the '05 model year production run. (About 1000 of 4035 cars made) There was a forging flaw in the control arm. All were replaced before an accident occurred.

The production flaw was corrected and no further issues presented themselves.

Just spent the weekend with a new GT, and its owners. It was hot outside (Tulsa) but the car stayed cool.
Hope the fire thing isn't a hidden bug.
