I can't answer your question directly, but I, too, thought I could replace my lower bushing. I removed it and took it
to a distributor shop to replace. Found the bushings are NLA and was told it's not really needed because the shaft
is already located at the bottom by the hole in the block. I don't know how much play is there but I ran the car
that way for several years (sold the car later) and it ran fine and with no discernable play in the shaft at the top end.
