^^^ Does the Cobra in the background have hood louvers...or is it a shadow/reflection?

If louvers, I've never seen that before.

Where I found those photos of the Cobras in the paddock  at Elkhart, it said that one of those Cobras belonged to the late Karl

Shiftmeyer, most likely the one in the back, maybe that will help with the i.d.

Mike

PS: OK did some searching, the spelling  of the owner by the OP is I believe wrong, I think it's Karl Schiffmayer, who at one time

owned 2263 and 2513 (quite the story behind that one in the 4th edition of the registry)

Mike

this is in reference to my post above #3074

SunDude

isn't it CSX3209...?

SunDude, thanks for your reply, good research  ;)  I think you are right that the car in the background is CSX3209,  I didn't think

to look at the 3000 cars  ::) that is the info (re: louvers & hood scoop) in my 4th edition of the registry, that would be early 70's,

the photo is dated in the right margin September '70

Mike

PS: reposted the photo again here.

Now what about the car in the foreground ? looks to have a yellow license tag on the front.

The best way to develop a future generation of racing enthusiasts.

It is always Fun to let kids enjoy being in your race car for a photo.

Or get them to help you bleed the brakes - The grandson already has several cars on his inheritance list.

Maybe a COB Cobra - The Ace did not have the fender lip

That's true for most of them, but the fuel filler location is wrong for a leaf-spring Cobra.

More knowledgeable people than me have suggested the Twiggy photo car is BE1199, an Ace Bristol that had its body replaced with a Cobra body following an accident in the early 1960s. This car has both the Cobra fenders and the Ace fuel filler, just like the photo car:

But unless it was a fiberglass body, even Twiggy would have caused havoc walking on the rear deck like that.
