I wouldn't consider the driver on the bottom lucky at all,...looking at where the cobra's front tire is, I think he made contact.  The car on the bottom's roll bar looks like it could have acted like a rail for the cobra's front suspension. my have saved his life,....I hope.

What's the story here ? Dan Gurney in a Mustang.

update: could it be a Falcon ?

TJinSA

It looks like a mustang from the shape of the fender top, but notice its got a glove box door, and the backs of the seats lack any embossment.

Probably a prototype or engineering car. Notice the snow- hes probably in Michigan.  Also note the stickers on the seat back and the gauges under the dash  and the Rotunda tach.

I had a Gurney helmet just like that. I used to use it at the high speed events until Eber came and told me the lawyers said it was unacceptable. He said it was a $10 motorcycle helmet (which it was...actually $20 but that included the visor) and they wouldn't allow it unless I paid at least $150 for a certified helmet. I said, but it's a vintage historic artifact? They just sit around the track looking for people to sue.

The events were just more fun back then before lawyers. Now everyone is walking around with a Baby Glock in their pocket. I wonder if the insurance people know about that?

To add: Look at the big glove box door.

Also, is my eyes playing tricks or is the dashpad sculpted?  Sort of convex/concave?

Funny

Actually Kopec joined in on that too. He said, "do you have a $10 head?" I didn't know what to say? I was thinking that might be the review and opinion of the board? Alieberto probably had some input into that? I always raced what I brung? $10 head and all. ;)

The Glove Box Door AND the fact that the Dash Pad only has one "EYE Brow" (over the Gauges).

1109RWHP

It doesn't have any dash pad. You are seeing a shadow.
