I wished the sign was clearer to be able to read it all??

UPDATE:
I can read it all except what is under GT350/500.

Also the sign in the background, "something" parts--accessories.

"San Fernando Valley's Exclusive Distributor for Shelby-American GT350/GT500."

I can't read the bottom of the sign.  The back sign looks like the CS Logo, then something and "Parts - Accessories".

San Fernandos exclusive Shelby dealer? That had to be GALPIN FORDS showroom right up the street from SHELBY AMERICAN! Basically grew up in that place, had a family friend that ran the parts business for many years... Good Times! :)

At it's inception, Shelby American was very much a part of the California racing, hot rod and custom scene of the '50s and '60s.

Dean Moon, Dean Jeffries, the Alexander brothers, the Barris brothers and myriad other fabricators, painters, designers, builders and racers all had an impact and influence on each to some degree and you can bet the factories back east were paying attention - along with toy manufacturers and model companies.

It's plain as day to me in the look of the Shelby Mustangs from '66 on - especially '67.

Kar-Kraft even went so far as to hire Mike Alexander to work in their Design Center on Larry Shinoda's recommendation.

propayne, thanks for the pics of the kustoms, the green car, Mercury Comet, or Ford Fairlane ? is interesting, it has a lot of subtle  stuff going on there, It also has covers over the head lights.

Reminded me of these Pyrex covers from Corning, which were a one year only ? dealer installed option, like on these '65s Galaxie 500s. Has anyone seen a set of these ?

Might have had these up on forum 1

Howdy honker -

The Mustang and the Fairlane were customized by the Alexander Brothers for Bob Tasca.

The Mustang was called the "Tasca 505".

Note door handles on the Fairlane and it looks like there might be openings for the exhaust between the door and the rear wheel opening.

I'm not sure of the timing with the Mustang and it's Shelby-like scoop and grill treatment.

While we're on the subject of '60s California customs, here is one of my favorites -

I can't remember all of the details, but I was chatting with a guy at the AACA Hershey show a few years back,,, he had Galaxie with glass(?) headlight covers. It was part of some hot-rod version for better aero (IIRC). Someone else here probably knows the actual facts  ::)

Very cool - those are new to me.

Now I'll know what they are if I run across a Ford with them.

Saw a set of those headlight covers at Hershey many years ago. The seller wasn't sure if they fit a '65 or a '66. When I said they were '65 only, he said, "OK, since you know something about them, why don't you buy them?" I asked how much. He let them go for $50, which seemed cheap. I had no real use for them, and resold later that afternoon for $200. I would think maybe they are worth more today.

^^^ sounds like a "win"  ;D

Interesting photo, a couple of Cobras, and is that a King Cobra on the left ?

Any ideas where this was taken ?
