That is an impressive list. And here I thought I was the only concourse antimatter. This the the G.T. 500 that hid behind a hedge late at night I recall and evaded law inforcement that drove by with static coming off the radio. I love that story as I imagine it in my mind. Must've been terribly exhilarating!

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

I think it's great you still own that car and can have all those layers of memories every time you sit behind the wheel. (Some of them extremely tense.) I am inspired to write an early 1970s piece about guys and their muscle cars though it's been done in a little thing called American Graffiti. Maybe I could put a Predator spin on it. Lol!

Funny you mention  American Graffiti   . 3 of us went & saw it in 1973. When it ended, one of my buddies turned to me and said   " That is us, 10 years later, only we have have Faster Cars ! "    8)

To 557, I will use that tired phrase. " Son, it'll pass everything but a gas station!".... ::)

I know I can get a novella out of it with your encounter with the police as maybe an opening scene if you agree. I just need something more than guys and their muscle cars in the 70s. They have to be battling some force or escaping some oppression or perhaps some supernatural element to it. Zombies is overdone but great thing about zombies is that it's our legend. Europe has its vampires and werewolves. We needed something uniquely American. We created zombies as our cultural legend. Hey maybe zombies and muscle cars might work. I need time to brood in solitude to get inspired with a good idea.

I've hijacked the thread. Sorry. One more idea then carry on with course correction. What about a secret society of street racers back in the 70s that gamble away their souls to the dark side challenging a demon with their fast cars but no one to date has been able to defeat the demon with their muscle car until a blue mist 67 G.T. 500 comes along with its driver and beats the demon back to the depths and the victory means it must release all the tormented souls it has claimed over the years. Opening scene, 67 G.T. 500 has just slipped through the noise and is hiding behind a hedge from the police.
