6S477 has a C5TP cover. It is important for ALL to remember that a casting number didn't change simply because the year did. There HAD to be a change made to the part for the casting number to change.

+1  My experience from 20+ yrs in Ford Parts dept.

Replacement would have same fit, form, function but could be a supplier change or design change to improve engineering, manufacturing or interchangeability.

I've got eight examples at this point but through the 700's. Would guess that like other things and details as well as the fact we don't know the order the Shelbys were built in that any statement of a change over number or date should be a range rather than an exact car or date. Suggest at this point we have that to a point and will continue to collect more examples to support or adjust it as needed

Jeff,
I did actually post a picture of that tag a while back, I was trying to decode the other letters stamped on it and yes it was on a K code from SA with a projected build date of Sept 30. Do you have the picture that shows the tag and also the C5 part number on the servo cover? .......

Only have the one from you - guess because you were focusing on the tag for the post and discussion. Sorry

The funny thing is the  "C" servo started as a truck part.  The "T" in C5TP or C6TP is for Truck.

Yes that is the servo used on a 240 6 cylinder with an automatic transmission in 65 and 66.
Don't get too excited though those are harder to find than Shelby automatic transmissions

Hi TLea,

According the Ford Master Parts Catalog, it is only the 1965-66 F100's and F250's with the straight 300 CID that received the "C" servo.  The same years trucks with the 240 CID received the "A" servo.  The engineering part number shown shows its origin was Galaxie C5AZ-7D027-B with the "A" in the prefix part number.  If you can find a police or taxi Galaxie from 1965 or 1966 with the C4, it too should have the "C" servo for heavy duty.

You are right, these are also very hard to find.

Take care

Cory

P.S.     Don't confuse casting part number with engineering part number.  They are usually different.

Hi Karguy,

Attached is the fat "C" servo from my buddy for trade for your skinny "C" servo.  I sent you an IM with his contact info and some other thoughts.

Transmissions were pre built to a requesition  ( purchase order)  and bulk shipped to the various vehicle assembly plants. They were serialized as well . "IF" we had access to the build records from the Automatic transmission assembly plant , we could pinpoint when the switch occurred as it was a running change not a Shelby specific change.

Found the c5 C cover I needed and another Shelby owner found the c6 C cover he needed. Shows the incredible importance and value of this forum and its participants. I think some people including myself learned a little more about these cars in the process of this post. Thanks, Thanks, Thanks Cory!
Thanks, Karl
